Chapter 487: 311 Difficult to guard against thieves at home, two or three things about the household register

Three days after the Pingjiang memorial service, the Shen Family elders decided to leave.

During the last meal before their departure, Old Master Shen smiled at Tang Wan, “Wanwan, in a few days, your aunt will also come to Beijing to look for a job. You must take good care of her for me.”

Although Shen Shuci was older by generation, she was actually a year younger than Tang Wan.

“Is Aunt coming to Beijing?” Tang Wan was both surprised and delighted.

“It’s better to stay in the country, and the two of you can look out for each other,” Mrs. Shen smiled.

Shen Shuci had initially wanted to stay by the elders’ side to fulfill her filial duties, but they were adamant, so she had to compromise. Finally, she used the excuse of needing to go back to tidy up her clothes and sort out work materials to send the elders home. Her visa this time was short-term as she needed to work in the country, and indeed, there were procedures to handle.

Once they saw her loosen up, they finally granted her permission to escort them home.

“Aunt, let me know in advance when you’re coming,” Tang Wan smiled.

“I will,” Shen Shuci forced a slight smile from the corner of her mouth.

“By the way, now that Xiaowu’s surgery has been successful, we’re just waiting for his post-surgery recovery. When are you planning to get married and have the banquet? I also want to prepare a big gift for Wanwan in advance,” Old Master Shen said with a laugh.

Old Master Tang was overjoyed when he heard this; Jiang Jinsang was his preferred choice, and he was happier than anyone to see the two of them end up together. “We are still discussing the exact date, but it depends on Xiaowu’s recovery.”

“But, you know, you can get the marriage certificate in advance even if you haven’t had the wedding banquet. I think the kids are really in a good relationship.”

As these words fell, the atmosphere at the dinner table became incredibly awkward.

Especially Tang Yunxian, who, despite looking like a refined scholar, gave Tang Wan a look that was sharp as daggers, fierce and intense.

“Yunxian, what do you think?” Old Master Tang spoke up.

“What should I think?” Tang Yunxian didn’t want to answer that question.

“If Xiaowu and Wanwan get the certificate before the banquet…”

“They are already engaged, and they are adults. Whatever decision they make, as long as they can be responsible for it, I have no objections.”

He really didn’t understand why his father liked Jiang Jinsang so much. Plus, with his in-laws around, Tang Yunxian wanted to object to getting the certificate in advance, but due to maintaining his image and the good atmosphere at the moment, he reluctantly said something against his heart.

“Oh, you’ve become sensible?” Old Master Tang teased.

“I can’t be with Wanwan her whole life. If this is the happiness she chooses, I naturally support it.” During the hospitalization of Jiang Jinsang, Tang Yunxian had come to understand the true depth of their relationship.

Even knowing that getting married and the certificate was inevitable, as long as it hadn’t happened yet, he felt his daughter still belonged to his own family, and moreover…

Pretty words are easy to say, just to make the elderly happy.

The household registration book was tightly held in his hand; as long as he didn’t let go, his darling daughter and that damn boy were not going to sneakily get a certificate!

“Dad, do you really think this way?” Tang Wan tentatively asked again.

“You’re grown up now; I can’t control much, but as long as you feel you’ve chosen the right person, I’m content.”

“Mm.” Tang Wan had been holding the household registration book, her heart filled with anxious trepidation.

“Taking” it as her grandfather said, was almost the same as “stealing”; if her dad got angry, he certainly wouldn’t take it out on her and her grandfather, most likely, it would be her Fifth Brother…

With his words, Tang Wan felt reassured.

Everyone enjoyed the meal, and after sending off the Shen Family, Tang Wan packed up, ready to head back to Beijing.

Aside from some household registration books, Tang Yunxian’s safe contained some family investments, mostly real estate, so he seldom accessed the safe.

Tang Wan hardly ever entered his bedroom, and certainly, there was no stealing of the household registration book.
