”Last time because of me, you were mobbed by reporters, I should be the one treating you. Once your studio officially opens, remember to tell me.”

”Definitely.” Tang Wan smiled, ”By the way, how have you and your brother been lately?”

”Not bad.”

Ever since she drunkenly threw herself at him that day, he had become increasingly unrestrained. If it weren’t for the children at home, she wouldn’t be able to evade him for even a day.

She said it was ’not bad’, but Tang Wan felt she had changed completely.

After the meal, Shen Zhixian had intended to pay the bill, but then a call came, and Tang Wan quickly scanned a QR code to settle the bill. ”Hello—Who is this?”

The number was unfamiliar.

”Zhong Xian—”

That familiar voice hit Shen Zhixian like a muffled blow, making her head spin. Tang Wan paid and took the receipt, then turned to look at her, only to see the color drain visibly from her face.

”Zhong... is it you?”

”I saw you on TV. When your mother died, our family kindly took you in, yet you ended up harming us like this and then just went abroad without looking back? I thought you would never return...”

”What do you want?” Her tone was frigid, her fingers clenched into fists, her whole body tense.

”I heard you’re going to inherit billions of yuan. Is that true? You even changed your name and went to live as a rich girl. If I hadn’t seen the photo, I wouldn’t have recognized you...”

Shen Zhixian didn’t wait for the person on the other end to finish and hung up the phone.

”Ms. Shen?” Tang Wan noticed her disturbed expression. ”Is something wrong?”

”It’s nothing. You should get back to work; I should head home too. I didn’t expect to make you pay when I came to see you. I’ll treat you next time.” She said, then started to leave.

With her being like this, Tang Wan felt uneasy about letting her drive alone.

”Let me take you.” Tang Wan took the car keys from her. ”It’s lunchtime now, work isn’t too urgent at this moment.”

Shen Zhixian was somewhat distracted, and before she could refuse, Tang Wan had already got into the driver’s seat and urged her to hurry into the car. The phone rang again, followed immediately by a threatening text message.

”I know you’ve climbed high now, ignoring my calls? You’ll regret it! If I expose your past, I’d like to see how you can marry into a rich family.”

Shen Zhixian gritted her teeth and replied: ”Do whatever you want!”

After replying, she blocked the number.

Tang Wan kept glancing at her out of the corner of her eye.

”This doesn’t seem like the route to my house?” Shen Zhixian regained her senses and realized the route was wrong.

”We’re going to the Jiang’s. Grandma has been missing you lately. You’re free this afternoon, so why not spend some time with her?” With her condition, Tang Wan really didn’t feel comfortable leaving her alone.

Knowing her intentions were out of concern, Shen Zhixian didn’t object.

The old lady was delighted to have Shen Zhixian visit. She grabbed her and mentioned she wanted to go to the Peach Garden to watch an opera and asked her to join. The old lady was very enthusiastic, and she nodded in agreement.

Meanwhile, Tang Wan secretly made a call to Jiang Yanting.

Jiang Yanting saw the caller ID and was puzzled. Despite having each other’s contact details, they barely interacted privately. ”Hello—”

”Ms. Shen came to my studio. We had lunch together, and she received a call that seemed to upset her.”

”Just a call?”

”Yes, something about Zhong...”

”Zhong?” Jiang Yanting’s fingers tightened slightly. Shen Zhixian used this surname while abroad. ”Where is she now?”

”I didn’t feel comfortable letting her go back to Hexi alone, so I brought her home. She’s going with Grandma to the Peach Garden later, so you don’t need to worry for now. I just wanted to let you know, just keep an eye out.”

”Thanks.”

Jiang Yanting hung up the phone. The last exposure had indeed stirred up all kinds of demons.

At the hospital

Jiang Jinsang regarded the person across from him—how idle was he to come here again?

And the person with the surname Huo was looking down, flipping through a magazine, calm as ever.

But Jiang Jinsang was a married man, and despite not being able to hear his entire conversation with Tang Wan, he could sense a certain sap.

”...Not busy today, calling me at this hour?”

”Ms. Shen was at the studio, we just had lunch together.” Tang Wan hadn’t told him about Shen Zhixian’s odd behavior.

After hanging up, Jiang Jinsang realized the other person had been watching him, ”What’s up?”

”You’ve changed a lot.”
