Chapter 360: 236 Jiang and Tang CP discuss engagement, has someone played themselves to a standstill? (2 updates) After that drama, Xie Jing was so ashamed he couldn’t show his face; when Shen Shuci and Jiang Cuo brought him to the Tang Family’s doorstep, they ran into Jiang Jiu, who had just finished dealing with reporters at the hotel.

Jiang Jinsang and Tang Wan had not yet returned and piecing together a complete story from the news reports was impossible. For certain, the elder Tang confronted Jiang Cuo and Jiang Jiu, seeking the truth.

”What in the world happened?” The elder Tang frowned as he looked toward Xie Jing, ”And who might this be...”

Other than Tang Wan, the Tang Family hadn’t attended the Xie’s annual meeting and, although they had seen some news about Xie Jing, his face was now so bruised and swollen it was almost unrecognizable.

The pictures that appeared in the news had been carefully selected, even touched up, so in that moment, they truly didn’t recognize him.

”Hello, I’m Xie Jing.” He dared not overstep.

”What exactly has happened here?” Tang Yunxian was also anxious to know the truth, ”Mr. Xie, could you please enjoy some sun in the yard first? You two, come inside with me.”

Xie Jing was left abandoned in the yard, Huang Ma even brought him tea and cake, but he couldn’t stomach any, knowing full well that once the truth emerged, he might be beaten to death.

The Tang Family’s old house was not at all soundproof, and the conversation in the front hall could be nearly perfectly overheard from the yard...

”The incident unfolded like this: last night, Miss Tang received a call from those two individuals who caused trouble at the studio today. They had previously been in a nasty dispute over severance pay.”

”They lured Miss Tang out under the pretext of apologizing but in actuality colluded with Xie Jing, planning to keep her confined in the hotel.”

”The matter of the severance pay actually... involved Xie Jing as well.”

...

Jiang Cuo narrated with vivid detail, yet the incident was complex and his account muddled.

Shen Shuci’s brow furrowed as he listened intently, ”What was this Xie Jing planning to do with Wanwan by keeping her in the hotel?”

Jiang Jiu, who had been silent, suddenly spoke up, ”His exact words were, ’Miss Tang will have to spend the night with me or she’ll be ruined!’”

Xie Jing stood in the corridor, the sun shining harshly, yet he felt utterly chilled to the bone.

Couldn’t you have phrased that more tactfully?

”What did you say!” The elder Tang, clenching his cane, began to pound the ground, ”What did that scoundrel plan to do with my granddaughter?”

”Did he lay his hands on Wanwan?” Old Master Shen, sitting to the side, was also livid with rage – which parent wouldn’t cherish their child, let alone when someone was plotting harm?

”No, our Jinsang arrived in time. The situation then, it was so tense...” Jiang Cuo looked as though he was recounting a tale, eager to paint Jiang Jinsang as the hero who saves the suffering.

Tang Yunxian pursed his lips. Jiang Jinsang’s timely awareness that something was wrong and his immediate actions had indeed saved his daughter.

Though inwardly unhappy about him eyeing his family’s ”cabbage” so stealthily, Tang Yunxian had to accept that indeed Jinsang had done right by them in this instance and owed him thanks.

Jiang Jiu doubled down, adding, ”This isn’t the first time he’s harassed Miss Tang.”

”Damn it—” The elder Tang, filled with rage, took up his cane and charged out to beat him, Xie Jing hurriedly ran away, with the two of them ending up circling in the yard.

”You dare to run, stop right there!”

”You shameless thing, how can there be someone as disgraceful as you in this world.”

...

The old man wasn’t quick on his feet due to his age; Xie Jing could only dodge, fearing he would indeed be beaten to death if he didn’t run.

”Dad, calm down!” Tang Yunxian tried to intervene.

”Didn’t you hear? Harassing Wanwan time and again, what good is keeping such a shameless creature around?”

”Well, we can’t actually kill him; beating him half to death would be even more frustrating.”

Xie Jing was terrified...

Without the law to protect him, this family seemed ready to shut the doors and flay him alive.

...

After clearing up the matter, both the Tang and Shen families sat in the living room, seething with anger but without an outlet, all eyes affixed on Xie Jing, who stood outside.

Xie Jing wished he could vanish into thin air, playing dead while seemingly nonchalantly teasing Hua Mei.
