Chapter 218: 162 Heart fluttering, want to flirt with him; how about coming to my place? (2 updates)_2

“You’re someone I brought up, so there’s no need to be afraid of anyone.”

“As long as it’s not your fault, no matter what happens, I, as your boss, can still stand up for you.”

Ruan Mengxi nodded, not exactly knowing why, but when his gaze shifted to her, it felt like something was fiercely bumping against her heart.

The car stereo played soft and indistinct music, but the beating of her heart in her ears sounded like war drums, stirring intensely by her side.

This must be what it feels like to have a crush.

The journey was long, and Ruan Mengxi, who wasn’t that drunk to begin with, gathered some courage from the alcohol, “Boss?”

“What is it?”

Qi Zeyan, before getting to know him, always seemed so distant, almost god-like, but in the end, he’s just a regular person.

“Do you like Wanwan?”

Qi Zeyan’s fingers tightened around the steering wheel, where did she get that idea?

Ever since Tang Wan and Jiang Jinsang became an item, he had let go, not getting directly involved even in work matters.

He didn’t say a word, which was as good as admitting it.

Ruan Mengxi had previously visited the hospital, and even Jiang Chengsi was there; clearly, everyone knew Tang Wan and Jiang Jinsang were a couple. He didn’t expect that Qi Zeyan and Jiang Jinsang actually knew each other, which meant he definitely knew more about their relationship.

“Boss, Wanwan and Lord Fifth are quite close; you don’t stand a chance.”

Why not consider me instead!

Ruan Mengxi thought about it, sitting up straighter.

Qi Zeyan gripped the steering wheel harder, he of course knew he had no chance, but what was up with this woman? He had saved her once, and now she was stabbing him in the back?

“What the hell is this?”

“I just want to tell you, you can’t force feelings; you have to know when to cut your losses.”

Qi Zeyan didn’t want to deal with her.

“Are you feeling pretty bad?” Ruan Mengxi pressed on, usually, she wouldn’t dare to speak to Qi Zeyan like this since he was her direct superior.

Today, courage was bolstered by alcohol.

“Losing love is inevitable in life; just get through this period and you’ll be fine.”

…

Qi Zeyan clenched his teeth; a single stab wasn’t enough, she kept pressing onto his heart, stabbing with vigor.

So when they arrived under Ruan Mengxi’s apartment building, he raised an eyebrow and told her to get the hell out.

“Boss, it’s so late, why don’t you come up for a visit, come to my place for a drink of water.” Ruan Mengxi staggered, burped from the alcohol, and then steadied herself.

“This late, you’re living alone, inviting a strange man to your house?”

These words were laden with suggestive tones.

“You’re not a stranger.” Ruan Mengxi said with a smile, her cheeks flushed and eyes sparkling, like flowers in full bloom, not as hot as her current smile, “Are you coming up?”

Qi Zeyan took her words as drunken gibberish, “Hurry home and get some sleep, make sure you’re safe going upstairs.”

A man and woman alone in a room, what would that look like!

He hadn’t noticed before, but she was quite bold.

“Alright, boss, take care!” she instinctively bowed, her body softened, almost hitting the car window.

Qi Zeyan sat in the car, feeling a headache coming on, was she really Tang Wan’s friend? How could their personalities be so different?

Just as the car left the complex, Qi Zeyan caught a glimpse of her bag left behind in his car. He had no choice but to turn around and go back to find her.

The complex was high-rise and needed a card to operate the elevator to go upstairs. When he got to her building, he saw Ruan Mengxi leaning against the wall by the elevator, hugging her knees, apparently asleep.

“Ruan Mengxi?”

It might have been the alcohol kicking in, Ruan Mengxi felt dizzy. When she looked up and saw a pair of shiny leather shoes, she swallowed nervously, looked up at him, and giggled, “Do you want to come to my house for water?”

Qi Zeyan’s lips twitched.

“Your bag is in my car, get up, I’ll take you home.”

Ruan Mengxi propped herself up with her hands against the wall and stood up…

The reality was that Qi Zeyan had opened the door to her room, escorted her inside, and then left without even setting foot in her room. Man and woman alone was not appropriate, and he understood this propriety well.

Qi Zeyan always had excellent control over his personal life, especially in interactions with women, and always kept the boundaries clear, which is why he had no scandals to date.
