Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1731: Chapter 1730: He’s Not a Child

Bai Xiaoxiao instinctively furrowed her brows.

Xu Wanqi’s voice was aggrieved and choked with sobs. As she stepped forward two more steps, she saw Xu Wanqi throwing herself into Meng Ke’s arms.

Meng Ke, standing in front of the hospital bed, was supporting her shoulder with one hand and cautiously holding her arm with the other. ”Wanqi, don’t cry yet, tell me what happened.”

Xu Wanqi’s scalded hand was already wrapped in gauze.

The nurse softly explained from the side, ”Miss Xu’s burn is very severe, blisters formed on the spot...”

Meng Ke looked down at her bandaged hand, and said in a deep voice, ”Didn’t I tell you to take care of Wanqi? How could you let her get burned?”

The nurse immediately lowered her head under Meng Ke’s questioning.

”Senior, don’t blame her. I didn’t let her feed me. You’ve been feeding me the past few days, so I thought I’d try feeding myself tonight. I can’t rely on others forever.”

Xu Wanqi’s voice was low, face full of grievance and sadness, making others feel heartache.

”I didn’t expect to be so useless, not only burning my hand but also ruining dinner.”

As she spoke, tears rolled down her face.

Meng Ke took out a tissue to wipe Xu Wanqi’s tears, ”Wanqi, lie down first. I’ll have someone bring dinner again. What’s important is your hand, don’t be stubborn next time.”

Bai Xiaoxiao pushed open the door of the hospital room and walked in.

Xu Wanqi was originally about to lean back against the bedhead, but upon seeing Bai Xiaoxiao enter, a glint of hatred flashed in her eyes, reluctantly withdrawing from Meng Ke’s embrace.

”Senior, you and Bai Xiaoxiao go on your date. I’m fine now.”

On her face, there was still a look of grievance, yet being well-behaved and sensible.

After speaking, she looked down at her scalded hand.

”Mr. Meng, Miss Xu hasn’t eaten dinner yet. I’ll go buy dinner for Miss Xu now. Could you stay with Miss Xu for a while?”

The nurse, who had been silent, spoke up at this moment.

Bai Xiaoxiao narrowed her eyes slightly at the nurse.

Facing her gaze, the nurse immediately looked away.

”Senior, you and Miss Bai can leave. I don’t have much of an appetite, and I don’t want to eat tonight.”

Xu Wanqi’s eyes were still teary, looking pitifully delicate.

Meng Ke frowned, instinctively saying, ”This won’t do, even when you’re upset, you need to eat, or how will your injury heal?”

”But, I really have no appetite.”

Xu Wanqi shook her head.

”Miss Xu, tell me what you’d like to eat, and I’ll go get it for you.”

Xu Wanqi glanced at the nurse, then looked at Meng Ke, ”Senior, I’d like to eat the dumplings you made.”

”This...”

Meng Ke furrowed his brow with difficulty, seeing this, Xu Wanqi voluntarily gave up, ”Forget it, I was just being random. Senior, you don’t have to trouble yourself for me, you two can go.”

As Xu Wanqi spoke, she lifted the blanket, intending to get out of bed.

”Wanqi, what are you doing, don’t move around.”

Seeing this, Meng Ke quickly reached out to restrain her arm.

Xu Wanqi said with a bitter smile, ”I want to go home and make myself some dumplings. I remember, when I was injured back then, Senior made me dumplings, at that time, I felt so fortunate...”

”Wait here, I’ll make the dumplings for you.”

Meng Ke interrupted Xu Wanqi, not letting her continue.

Turning his gaze to Bai Xiaoxiao standing nearby, he showed a hint of apology on his face, ”Xiaoxiao, tonight, I...”

”I’ve been on a business trip for a few days, so I’m going home tonight to have dinner with my parents.”

After Bai Xiaoxiao said this, she turned to Xu Wanqi, ”Miss Xu, take good care of your injury, don’t let it worsen, if a girl gets a scar, it would be regretful.”

”Thank you, Miss Bai, for your concern.”

The sadness in Xu Wanqi’s eyes dissipated when Meng Ke said he’d make dumplings for her.

At this moment, there was a hint of happiness in her expression.

After leaving the hospital room, Meng Ke wanted to explain to Bai Xiaoxiao, but she didn’t give him the chance, ”My dad’s feeling unwell, I’m going to see Gu Kai to get some medicine, you go ahead, I’ll catch a ride with Gu Kai later.”

”Xiaoxiao...”

Meng Ke called out, but Bai Xiaoxiao interrupted him, ”The elevator is here.”

The elevator was crowded, and Meng Ke had no chance to speak.

Bai Xiaoxiao got out midway and went to Gu Kai’s office.

Gu Kai was preparing to leave work, looking surprised as he saw her approach, ”Xiaoxiao, why are you here?”

”You’re heading home, aren’t you?”

Bai Xiaoxiao responded with a question instead of answering.
