Venomous Empress Reborn

471 Meeting an Old Friend (2)

The purple-gold robe looked even more gorgeous under the moonlight, and the patterns seemed to be a little familiar. However, his face was blocked by a silver mask, making him look a little dangerous.

Shen Miao was not surprised to see this uninvited guest in the middle of the night. She closed the window again without changing her expression, and the room immediately darkened. Shen Miao walked to the table and lit another oil lamp.

Under the warm yellow light, her clothes and hair looked especially hazy. Shen Miao held the lamp and sat down opposite the person.

“Are you waiting for me?” The purple-clothed young man’s voice was low and especially pleasant to the ear in the quiet night. Because he deliberately lowered it, it was a little hoarse, but it sounded like a lover’s whisper. His voice was filled with smiles, as if he was very happy.

!!

Shen Miao stared at the mask on his face. Even the mask could not hide his good looks. His beautiful chin and red lips made him look even more mysterious and charming. It was rumored that everyone in the royal family of the Daliang Dynasty was beautiful. She had never seen Prince Rui’s true appearance, but even with a mask on, he was already outstanding enough.

“Your Highness, you knocked on the pillar three times to remind me that you will drop in on me at three. I dared not to shut the door on you,” she replied.

The person opposite her smiled and said, “How smart.”

His attitude was frivolous and even a little flirtatious, but for some reason, it made people feel a little distant, as if he carried a natural coldness and cruelty. Shen Miao looked at him quietly and said, “Your Highness, what do you have to say to me?”

The purple-clothed young man casually picked up a black chess piece from the chess basket and played with it. Under the lamp light, his slender and fair hand looked even more exquisite and beautiful. He glanced at the chessboard and said, “The chess game is interesting. Little girl, you’ve categorized the whole world into the chessboard. I wonder where the Daliang Dynasty is placed, and which chess piece am I?”

He actually recognized that the chessboard represented the current situation of Ming Qi at a glance.

Shen Miao didn’t say anything.

His voice was lazy and casual. “I saw that you seemed to be old friends with Princess Ming An at the banquet today. Have you met her before?”

Shen Miao’s heart tightened. She naturally knew Princess Ming An. Other than Huangfu Hao, no one else would suspect anything. One was the princess of the State of Qin, and the other was the daughter of an official in Ming Qi. The State of Qin and Ming Qi were thousands of miles apart, and this was the first time Princess Ming An was in Ming Qi. No one would associate Shen Miao with Princess Ming An at all. However, what the person in front of her said was straight to the point and revealed the truth.

What did he notice? What did he find out? Or did he sense that something was wrong just because of the archery competition? If it was the latter, then the man was really too terrifying.

However, Shen Miao didn’t lose her composure. She clenched her fists tightly in her sleeves while a smile appeared on her face.

“Unfortunately, I’ve never seen Princess Ming An, but I’m old friends with Prince Rui.”

The young man in purple turned to look at her. Suddenly, he placed his hands on the table and leaned forward to whisper in Shen Miao’s ear, “Oh? When?”

Shen Miao looked at the person inches away from her. His breathing was warm, but his silver mask was cold. There was a smile on his lips, but his eyes betrayed nothing. This was a dangerous man. He was attractive, but he made Shen Miao instinctively want to avoid him.

That pair of dark and deep eyes stared at her. She lowered her head and avoided his gaze. She stared at the exquisite buttons embroidered with patterns on his robe and said indifferently, “Long time no see, Xie Jingxing.”
