Two-Faced Husband, Have Some Decency!

Ruan Danchen was surprised by his sudden announcement and could only stare at him wondering if he was serious about all of that. However, with his very calm and clear appearance, it seemed unlikely that he was lying.

”Really?” said the elderly Madam Qi, as she thought that the announcement he made was indeed too good to be true. She could not shake the feeling as if something was off.

The usual bachelor of the family, Qi Chengzhi that always seemed to have trouble getting into a relationship had finally gotten married this year and had a grandchild on the way. Not long after that, Qi Chengyue, who was initially stressed by her divorce had since got together with a good man like Cheng Dongge. The remaining single people in the family left would be none other than Qi Chengji and Qi Chenglin.

To be fair, Qi Chengji could be excused for being single. Since he was still young, he should not be too rash in making decisions. Qi Chenglin’s case, however, would be slightly more complicated. He was getting older, if she were to bring him along for an intimate blind date with anyone else, he would be rejected.

But, who would have expected that he, too, would have a girlfriend now.

The elderly Madam Qi had never been happier at that moment. She must have thought that she was being rewarded for all the good karma that she had done.

Seeing that Qi Chenglin had nodded, Madam Qi could not contain her excitement as she grabbed Ruan Danchen by the hand and happily said, ”Come on now Xiao Ruan, take a seat. Sigh, our little Chenglin may be quick to anger, but he is a decent and responsible man.”

Seated directly opposite of Ruan Danchen was Guan Liya. She seemed to have left a great impression on Guan Liya.

”I’ve asked Chenglin before about his relationship status. I didn’t expect that he was actually talking about you,” Madam Qi added. ”If I had known it was you that he was talking about, I wouldn’t have worried so much,” Guan Liya said while laughing cheerfully.

”Xiao Ruan, I was told by Chenglin that you came to B city when you were little with your mother. Besides your mom, is there anyone else in your family?” Madam Qi asked curiously.

”No, not that I know of,” Ruan Danchen answered.

”What does your mother do for a living?” Madam Qi asked further.

This question caught her off guard as Ruan Danchen hesitated if she should tell the truth or not. If she did, it would reveal her ties with the Shen family, and it would also reveal what happened all those years ago.

She was lucky that Qi Chenglin could understand what she had to do all those years ago. However, she was unsure if the rest of his family would be as understanding as him. What if the truth pissed off the entire family? She would not know what to do then.

”When she was still studying at her university, her mother remarried into another family. Her mother never cared much about how she did anyway. The family that her mother remarried into did not like the idea of her having her own daughter, so this was why Danchen has never visited her since her university days. She alone had to bear the weight of her tuition fees and other expenses. She worked really hard to pay off everything,” said Qi Chenglin. It was partly true anyway.

”Some mother she is! How irresponsible!” Madam Qi yelled as she smacked her leg in anger. She felt slightly embarrassed at her outburst and held Ruan Danchen’s hand. ”Please forgive my bluntness. If you both agreed to get married, you still have to let your mother know. After that, we shall send a wedding invitation to your stepfather and his family. They can come if they please. That will show them that even without their support, you can still take care of yourself quite well,” said Madam Qi.

After she said that, Madam Qi took out a chinese calendar booklet from her bag and said, ”Look, I have even brought along a chinese calendar with me. Let’s pick a date that you like shall we?”

The booklet was forcefully shoved into Ruan Danchen’s hands, making her blush. She was frozen in shock as she does not know how to respond in this very awkward situation. She shyly looked at Qi Chenglin, desperately calling out for help.

”Grandma, you’re gonna scare her away. Today is her first time here anyway and besides, she had just very recently became my official girlfriend,” said Qi Chenglin. ”We’ll discuss marriage alone. Besides, I have to propose to her first,” Qi Chenglin added.
