Two-Faced Husband, Have Some Decency!

Chapter 93: Qi Chengzhi Did Not Understand How The Universe Bestowed Upon Him This Woman So Dear

”If he’s really dating Song Yu, I foresee some upcoming drama,” Wu Lijun said enigmatically. ”Song Yu was originally engaged to Qi Chengji. After a failed engagement, she latches on to the elder brother. This is going to be such a scandal in the Qi family!”

”If she were to marry into the family, she’s going to run into Qi Chengji frequently. How would they address each other then?”

Qi Chengyue did not care about the awkwardness between Song Yu and Qi Chengji. She was more worried about the frequent encounters between Song Yu and Jian Yi if they were to become family.

She was not going to allow this coquettish Song Yu to marry into the Qi family.

”Marriage is a bit too early for now. She still doesn’t have any status in the family. And as you all have said, she was once engaged to my younger cousin brother. My uncle and auntie won’t stand for such a stain on our family reputation.”

Qi Chengyue’s mood darkened as she spoke.

”Yes, yes.” The mood had soured and fires were threatening to burst out in any second. Xia Kewei had to quickly smoothened things over before disaster struck.

…

…

At Qi Chengzhi’s table, the glasses were piling up as the people drank with reckless disregard. Having someone of Qi Chengzhi’s stature attending the dinner was very much an honor. Without his glasses, Qi Chengzhi’s sharp eyes and handsome face gave him an aura of aristocratic elegance. Thus, he excused himself from the heavy drinking that was going on around the table.

Other than the few toasts to success, no one dared to pressure Qi Chengzhi to drink. On the other hand, Jian Yi and Cheng Dongge were not spared.

Everyone was happily drinking away. Jian Yi and Cheng Dongge were starting to feel tipsy after multiple rounds of beer.

Qi Chengzhi stood up and excused himself from the table with a slight nod. ”Excuse me, I need to make a call.”

Hearing this, Jian Yi’s gaze automatically followed Qi Chengzhi, squinting his eyes in the effort.

”Manager Jian, drink up…” The client beside him raised his glass and pulled his attention back to the table.

Qi Chengzhi stood by the door and dialed the home landline. Aunt Yang picked up the call and informed him that Song Yu was at the house. The news made Qi Chengzhi smile.

He did consider the possibility of Song Yu disobeying his orders and going back to her own apartment, hence he made this call.

”Done with dinner?” Song Yu’s voice sounded distant through the phone.

Her voice had a soothing effect on Qi Chengzhi. He leaned against the wall and put one hand in his pocket. ”Not yet, but soon. What are you doing?” he said in a gentle, deep tone.

”Nothing much. Just watching some American drama.” With Qi Chengzhi on the phone, she could hardly focus on the television. She paused the program and gave him her undivided attention.

”If you’re not too tired later, come and pick me up?” Qi Chengzhi asked. His hand went to adjust his glasses and found nothing. He forgot that he had stopped wearing them.

He smiled quietly. It had been a while since he last wore his glasses, but old habits were hard to change.

”What time will that be?” Song Yu did not bring up the fact that Chang Lai was available. Since Qi Chengzhi suggested, she complied. She was happy to make him happy.

After informing her of the time, Qi Chengzhi hung up the phone. He smiled cheerily at himself before going back into the room.

…

…

Song Yu put on her winter coat and headed off. She left Aunt Yang to prepare some soup that was said to cure hangovers. Although Qi Chengzhi was a moderate drinker at best—never drinking past his limits—having some warm soup to drink was better than nothing.

’There was no need to dress up when it was already so late at night,’ she thought as she took a pair of Vans sports shoes from the shoe rack. They made driving much more comfortable.

Arriving at the entrance of Dynasty, Song Yu texted Qi Chengzhi, ”I’m at the opposite cafe. When you’re done, just let me know.”

Qi Chengzhi was just about to reply when Director Wang—channeling some of that liquid courage—teased from the opposite side of the table, ”Seeing Director Qi’s expression, talking to your girlfriend?”

While Director Wang was more or less drunk, his assistant retained some sense of awareness and tried to prevent his boss from speaking any more nonsense. Master Cheng’s personal life was simply not a topic for drunken banter.
