Blood began to stream from his eyes, thin lines carving their way down his face. It spilled from his nose and mouth as well, staining the void with crimson that could not rewind fast enough to save him. His body trembled as the strain intensified.

Rewinding time on this scale was not something even a being with a fifth level concept of time should have been able to attempt, let alone complete.

But the clone had prepared for this moment.

From the instant his existence had begun, he had remained in deep meditation within the Dimension of Time, gathering time essence endlessly. In a place where time had no limit and no end, he had accumulated an almost inexhaustible reserve. That reservoir was now being emptied all at once, burned away to force the impossible into reality.

The rewind continued.

The world stabilized.

Time finally rolled back to the exact moment the catastrophic attack had reached the world itself, stopping just before it could touch Max, Freya, or Lucien. The air hung unnaturally still, as if the universe itself was holding its breath. For a single fraction of a second, everything paused.

Only the clone could move.

He stepped forward through frozen reality and appeared before the original Max, who stood locked in that suspended moment. Placing a hand on Maxʼs chest, the clone poured the last of his remaining time essence into him, shattering the temporal lock that held him in place.

”Huh?” Max muttered as awareness returned in an instant.

Before he could ask anything, the clone placed two fingers against Maxʼs forehead.

In that touch, Max saw everything.

He saw the erased world. He saw Freya and Lucien vanish without even a scream. He saw the red cloud devour what little remained. He saw Mark standing alone in nothingness, victorious and empty. He saw the end that awaited if nothing changed.
