A Star Reborn: The Queen’s Return

Chapter 587: Brother, You’re Really Scary

Xia Ling was pulled back home by her brother.

In the small lounge area on the second floor, she was unhappy. She wearily held a small cup of ginger tea that her brother poured for her as the moonlight sprinkled on the ivy-covered walls outside.

”Are all Phoenixes good-for-nothing?” Suddenly, she heard her brother’s voice.

”Huh?” She looked up in confusion.

Xia Moyan sighed. ”What’s so good about Li Lei? He stood you up and even caused you to be scolded by his old master. He’s not worthy of you.” Any daughter of the Xia Family should be cherished. That was the bare minimum for an ordinary daughter, let alone the most honorable Phoenix that endured hardship for the entire family.

Now, she had not officially returned to the family yet.

Once she officially returned and her status was announced, she would be the supreme and reverent princess. Li Lei was just a merchant that had connections with the triad. Even if kings or presidents wanted to pursue her, she could act as she pleased and they still had to remain respectful to her.

A Phoenix of the Xia Family was this awesome.

Just as he was thinking about whether to describe her beautiful life ahead once she returned to the family so that she would not be inflexible and stubborn, her phone rang.

His sister stared pitifully at him.

This expression was not of a Phoenix but of a puppy.

Xia Moyan speechlessly took out her phone. On the screen, the name ”Li Lei” was clearly seen. This was the seventh time he called tonight.

This phone was Xia Ling’s. Not long after her she left the concert hall, her phone started to ring because Li Lei called her. She wanted to pick it up, but Xia Moyan stopped her and said, ”Li Lei is too unreliable. Why is he only thinking of calling you at such a late hour? Is a girl from the Xia Family supposed to be at his beck and call all the time?”

He refused to let Xia Ling answer her phone and even confiscated it.

She was upset and wanted to snatch her phone back, but Xia Moyan sternly said, ”Do you not understand the saying that an elder brother is like a father?”

She indignantly stopped, but in reality, she could not defeat him.

At this time, she stared at her brother with a pair of pitiful eyes. ”Can you let me answer it?”

Xia Moyan was unmoved. ”He can’t even withstand this test. How is he qualified to be with you?” He really didn’t like his future brother-in-law very much and deeply felt that his sister had poor taste in men. It would be best for him to break them apart so that he could find a more considerate man who was able to protect her better.

Xia Ling wanted to cry.

The phone rang for a long time but finally became quiet.

She drank her ginger tea with a heavy heart and softly complained. ”Didn’t you say that you have to leave the city? Why aren’t you going?”

A smile crept on Xia Moyan’s face. ”I will leave.”

”When?” Xia Ling was unhappy.

Xia Moyan glanced sideways at the window.

Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, the moonlight was beautiful. Beyond the fence of the villa was a gravel road, and there were endless shadows of the ivy-covered red wall. The path was quiet, and there was a modified off-road vehicle parked in front of her fence. A man came out of the car. He was wearing a suit as black as the night sky and had a figure as handsome as a top male model.

”What are you looking at?” Xia Ling asked curiously and tried to lean over her brother’s shoulder.

”Ah, Li Lei!” She exclaimed in surprise.

This time, Xia Moyan was unhappy. This little girl was like a puppy that only remembered the good but forgot the bad. Her attitude towards her boyfriend was so soft. He did not pick her up after the concert ended and let the elders of his family bully her. Not only did she not care about that, once she saw him, her eyes also lit up.

What would happen if she were taken advantage of after she married him?

Xia Moyan really wanted to ask his father if Phoenixes were supposed to be smart. Why was his family’s Phoenix so stupid? Could it be that they miscalculated her fate?

He loosened his arm, and the petite girl beside him was already prepared to rush downstairs.

Xia Moyan grabbed her. ”You better sit here.”
