However, the greatest use of Taoist Merit is for promotion in official rank.

For example, if Xu Jin wanted to promote to Vice Flag Master of the Star Patrol Guard, it would deduct two hundred Taoist Merits.

At the same time, upgrading the Star-picking Order also requires Taoist Merit.

[First Tier Star-picking Order: Eligible for upgrade, requires 10,000 Taoist Merits, a hundred strands of Starlight]

Under Wu Dong’s explanations, Xu Jin learned a lot about the Da Chen National Taoist School.

For instance, why does Da Chen’s Martial Arts Hall have nothing at all?

Because Da Chen’s Martial Arts Hall only opens during certain specific times, and most of the time, entry is limited to certain identities.

”Junior Brother Xu, here, let’s add each other as friends, so we can send each other Starlight Transmissions directly if anything comes up. If you ever get the chance to visit Wanyi, you must contact your senior brother; I will definitely uphold the host’s hospitality,” Wu Dong laughed as Xu Jin was about to leave.

But Xu Jin showed a troubled expression.

It wasn’t that he didn’t want to add him, but according to his earlier understanding, adding a friend once would consume a strand of Starlight, and sending a single Starlight Transmission would also consume a strand of Starlight.

Too expensive, too outrageous. He couldn’t afford it.

”This, senior brother, I’m a bit strapped for cash, lacking in Starlight,” Xu Jin said very straightforwardly.

Hearing this, Wu Dong burst into hearty laughter, ”Junior brother, look, you still haven’t fully grasped the rules. As long as you join the Da Chen National Daoist School, whether it’s adding friends or sending Starlight Transmissions among internal members of our Daoist School, it only requires a tiny bit of Taoist Merit.”

”Just a tiny bit of Taoist Merit?”

This made Xu Jin very happy.

It was like the fee had shrunk by tenfold.

Previously it required a hundred taels of silver each time, now it only required ten taels of silver per time.

This was not something he couldn’t afford; he could still add them.

”Then, if I have the chance to visit Wanyi, I’ll definitely seek out senior brother,” Xu Jin added Wu Dong as a friend, and then took his leave, of course, this was just a polite remark.

In his past life, unless they were extremely close, people generally wouldn’t bother others when on their turf, to avoid making the host uncomfortable.

After all, receiving and entertaining guests cost money and time, both were the bane of young people freshly graduated!

After thinking it over, before Xu Jin left the Star-picking Strands, he added two people as friends.

It cost him two points of Taoist Merit.

One was Ning Yuchan, and the other was Lu Xianbing.

Both of them accepted quickly, and Ning Yuchan even directly sent Xu Jin a Starlight Transmission.

”Joined Star Tower? The Martial Arts Secret Realm in the public area can be fought in daily, greatly enhancing your practical combat ability. See if you can raise your ranking to within the top thousand.”

All Xu Jin could say was Ning Yuchan was generous.

That sentence alone was ten taels of silver.

And, the distance between Ning Yuchan and Xu Jin was roughly two li away; coming over shouldn’t take more than a minute.

Moreover, from the tone of Ning Yuchan’s transmission, she seemed to have quite high expectations for Xu Jin.

She directly set a target for him within the top thousand ranks in the Martial Arts Secret Realm of the First Tier.

”Brother Jin, congratulations, your breakthrough speed is just too fast! I remember less than half a month ago, you broke through from the Fifth Layer of Dining Dawn to the Sixth Layer, that’s much more impressive than us so-called A Level prodigies!”

Not long after Xu Jin returned to the small courtyard, Lu Xianbing rushed over.

But Lu Xianbing clearly wasn’t someone who wasted time, he came to see Xu Jin because he received Xu Jin’s friend request and discovered that Xu Jin had broken through to the Sixth Layer of Dining Dawn to inform Xu Jin of something.
