Mr Fu, I Really Love You

Chapter 374: I Wanted to Make Amends!

Liu Mingchen stood under the stage, gazing at Lin Nuan standing under the lights. She exuded an understated, sophisticated charm.

With his hands in his pockets, Liu Mingchen smiled as he gazed at Lin Nuan in gratitude.

The recording began. Lin Nuan stood tall on the stage as she delivered her introduction…

”There was a movie showing some time back, I’m not sure if you’ve watched it. The movie was about how cancer patients have difficulty obtaining their medication and the rising costs of medicine. There is a lot of laughter and tears in the movie… and in fact, it’s adapted from an actual event!”

The moment she was done talking, a red Chinese character ’Cancer’ appeared on the huge screen behind her.

Lin Nuan turned sideways and gestured her hand, directing everyone’s attention to the big screen as photographs of cancer patients flashed one by one on the screen.

”We see cancer everywhere around us, it could be a friend of a classmate, a relative, or even ourselves! In this day and age where cancer is so prevalent, medication to treat cancer is a patient’s only hope! Our nation’s pride, Professor Liu Mingchen, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, has developed a type of medication that can help to treat cancer — Abinoque. My best friend’s father is currently taking Abinoque as well. This should have been a ray of hope for all cancer patients…”

”Professor Liu Mingchen was in touch with me recently, and he had hoped to come on ’A Sunday Date’ to tell us more about Abinoque. Let’s put our hands together to welcome Professor Liu!”

Liu Mingchen stood up, buttoned his blazer, and walked up to the stage. He smiled naturally at Lin Nuan. ”We know each other well, let’s skip the formalities!”

Lin Nuan nodded.

This episode was mainly a question and answer session between Lin Nuan and Liu Mingchen, and he was able to speak to his heart’s content.

When the recording ended, Liu Mingchen removed his earphones and looked at Lin Nuan. ”Are you free at noon? I would like to treat you to lunch to thank you for your help…”

Lin Nuan removed her earphones and smiled at Liu Mingchen. ”I should be the one thanking you. You don’t appear on any show, but you graced my show with your presence. I’m sure the program’s ratings will soar!”

”I chose your show precisely because of the high ratings!”

Lin Nuan smiled. ”Are we flattering each other now?”

Liu Mingchen grinned.

”What would you like to have?” Liu Mingchen asked Lin Nuan. He looked like he had cheered up considerably from before.

Before Lin Nuan could answer, the makeup artist came over, holding Lin Nuan’s phone. ”Miss Nuan, it’s a call for you!”

Liu Mingchen nodded thoughtfully to indicate to Lin Nuan that she should answer the call first.

Lin Nuan stared at the unfamiliar number on her phone and walked to a deserted corner to answer the call. ”Hi, may I know who’s this?”

”It’s me! Lu Jinnan!”

It was Lu Jinnan’s voice on the other end of the line.

Lin Nuan moved the phone away to glance at the caller ID again. She was puzzled but thought it was understandable. It was probably very common for businessmen like Fu Huai’an and Lu Jinnan to have a personal contact number and a separate work number.

”What’s the matter?” Lin Nuan asked curtly.

Lu Jinnan was frustrated. Lin Nuan was his friend’s girl, but he found himself having to ask her out on several occasions, and it made him uncomfortable.

”Fu said I owe you an apology. I wanted to ask you out to make amends!”

Lu Jinnan was candid.

He used to think that Lin Nuan was someone who wanted to enjoy a good life.
