Mr Fu, I Really Love You

Chapter 230: Nobody in Haicheng Dares to Offend Them

”Wang Quan had a concussion and lost several of his teeth after being beaten up by Fu. Do you know that Fu has gotten himself into hot soup this time… Because of you?” Lu Jinnan said as he gazed at the small warm lights on the ground lining the cobblestoned path in the distance. ”Since you chose to approach Wang Quan to help your father, I am sure you know the reason why he can be such a tyrant in Haicheng. Other than the fact that his mother is the Director of the Audit Office, his maternal grandfather also holds a prominent political position… They are basically a family of government officials! Nobody in Haicheng dares to offend them…”

The rain streaks could be distinctly seen against the backdrop of the dim and hazy lights. Lin Nuan didn’t say a word but clenched her hands tightly.

She hadn’t heard of Wang Quan before that and wasn’t aware of his family background.

”Lin Nuan, Fu likes you, I’m sure you know this, don’t you?”

Lin Nuan flushed in embarrassment. Yes, she knew that.

Lu Jinnan didn’t hear Lin Nuan’s reply. He lifted the cigarette from his lips and with one hand in his pocket, turned and stared at Lin Nuan. ”You have not answered, are you trying to pretend you don’t know? Were you intending to cast Fu aside after deceiving him and making use of him to help you?”

She didn’t know if Lu Jinnan was doing so intentionally, but Lin Nuan could sense his hostility.

Lin Nuan didn’t recall any grudges between Lu Jinnan and herself, and she didn’t understand his animosity towards her. ”Mr. Lu, I am not sure why you seem biased towards me but… I didn’t deceive him.”

She spoke bluntly in a cold voice. Putting on formalities like how she was when reading the news, she stared straight at Lu Jinnan and asked indifferently, ”What are you trying to imply?”

”What am I trying to imply?” Lu Jinnan sneered and said, ”You mean you don’t have any idea what you had to do when you approached Wang Quan for help? This is such an important matter… Wouldn’t you need to make some sacrifices?”

The words coming from Lu Jinnan reminded Lin Nuan of what Wang Quan had muttered next to her ears when he had his hand over her mouth that fateful day.

”If you want to help your father, you would have to pay a price for it, don’t you agree?”

Lin Nuan felt goose-bumps forming all over her body, and her scalp turned numb.

Lu Jinnan narrowed his eyes, tapped on his cigarette, and said, ”You seem to know exactly what you had to do with Wang Quan and considered yourself his girlfriend… Why is it that you are treating Fu differently then? Do you really think yourself to be so devastatingly beautiful that one smile from you is enough to make men infatuated and willing to go to any lengths for you?”

”I hadn’t wished for that, it was Wang Quan…”

”Lin Nuan, I have made it so clear, do you truly not get what I mean or are you simply putting on an act?” Lu Jinnan had no intention of beating about the bush, and he turned to face Lin Nuan. ”When you approached Fu for help, don’t you need to do something more, other than sugar coating your words? Am I not being clear enough? Fu took a great risk by giving you this information, do I have to teach you what to do personally?”

Lu Jinnan’s words made Lin Nuan embarrassed.

She understood what he was hinting at, and she knew he was saying it intentionally to humiliate her.

Lin Nuan instinctively asked, ”Is this Fu Huai’an’s idea?”

She paused, and without waiting for an answer from Lu Jinnan, she said, ”Or is this your idea?”

Lin Nuan didn’t claim to understand Fu Huai’an, but from what happened the night before, It was obvious they had the intention to develop a relationship.

She didn’t believe that Fu Huai’an would have gotten Lu Jinnan to speak to her about that, it seemed unnecessary anyway!

Even though it was clear to her, she still felt a slight pang of pain in her heart.

Lin Nuan had always known that liking someone meant… It meant that all her emotions would be inevitably linked to that person.
