Chapter 898: Only When the Medicinal Herbs Are Good Will the Medicine Be GoodSome things could be compromised while others could never be. This was a matter of principle.

“Sir?”

“Let’s go.”

Zheng Weijun was very busy now. He had to greet the leaders who had arrived to participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. It would be better to tell him about it later.

Before leaving, Wang Yao said to the manager in charge of production, “These herbs can’t be used!”

“Yes, Mr. Wang,” the man respectfully said.

He knew that Wang Yao’s identity was special. He was the largest shareholder of the pharmaceutical company. His original employer was only the second shareholder, but he was responsible for the daily operation of the entire pharmaceutical company. Young Master Zheng had to listen to the words of the person in front of him. Moreover, Young Master Zheng had specifically told him that no matter what Wang Yao said, he must obey unconditionally.

“What about the other herbs?”

“There is no problem with the other herbs, but without this herb, the entire medicine can’t be made,” Wang Yao said.

“You guys can just pretreat these herbs first.”

“Noted.”

After the ribbon-cutting, part of the pharmaceutical company’s equipment was put into operation. Zheng Weijun had booked almost half of the best hotel in Lianshan County to entertain the dignitaries who had come to attend the opening ceremony.

Wang Yao did not go. Only a few people knew that he was a major shareholder in the pharmaceutical company. He was unwilling to participate in such an occasion.

In the afternoon, Zheng Weijun, who was a little drunk, came to the pharmaceutical company. He realized that production was not going according to the original plan. The person in charge of production saw him and jogged to his side. He told him what Wang Yao had said in the morning, word for word.

Zheng Weijun’s face immediately darkened.

“Is there a problem with this herb?”

“Well, I already arranged for someone to test it. There is indeed a problem. The drug residue exceeds the standard level.”

“Drug residue? Didn’t I arrange for wild-grown herbs to be purchased? How could there be any drug residues on it?” Zheng Wei asked in a grim voice.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Zheng.”

“Don’t say sorry to me. Who was in charge of the procurement?”

“Lao Chen.”

“Lao Chen is also a long-term employee,” Zheng Weijun said.

“Yes.”

“Call him to see me at once.”

“Yes, Mr. Zheng.”

The person in charge jogged away. After a while, he brought another man over to Zheng Weijun. He was a man in his 50s. He was a little short in stature. There was sweat on his forehead, perhaps because he had been running.

“Mr. Zheng, were you looking for me?”

“Lao Chen, how long have you been with me?”

“Well, for almost 10 years now,” Lao Chen replied. He felt very uneasy. He did not know why the Young Master was suddenly asking him these questions.

“You are also an old employee. What did I entrust to you before? Repeat it.”

“All raw materials must be wild-grown to ensure quality,” Lao Chen said.

“You do remember. So, what is with this licorice?”

“Licorice?” After hearing that, Lao Chen was stunned. He immediately understood the reason why the Young Master was looking for him.

“Young Master, is there something wrong with the herbs?”

“What do you think?”

“I… I really don’t know!” Lao Chen was a little anxious. He had personally checked and gotten the key herbs to make sure there was no problem. Later, because of something, there were two herbs that he could not use, so he had to get them himself. Unexpectedly, something had gone wrong.

He had paid attention to the purchase of the materials this time around. He did not have any bad thoughts.

“Solve this problem within three days,” Zheng Weijun said after a long silence.

“Yes, yes.” Lao Chen kept nodding and bowing as if he had been pardoned from a great crime.

“I repeat, all raw materials must comply with the requirements. The cost problem should not be considered for the time being.”

“Yes, yes.”

“Alright, you can go.” Zheng Weijun waved his hands. Judging from his expression, he was disappointed.

The two left in a hurry.

“Phew! What a close call!” Lao Chen wiped the sweat from his forehead.

“Lao Chen, how could you make such a mistake?”

“I didn’t expect such a thing for a little amount of herbs,” Lao Chen said. “Do you think it is really worth it? It’s only been a few days since I met with them.”

“The Young Master said in three days.”

“Don’t worry. If they dare lie to me, I will clean them up!” Lao Chen’s face showed a trace of ruthlessness.
