Chapter 463: A conversation on the way to the Stone family’s territory

“So you’re saying that we can’t get close to the Stone family’s territory?” Idan asked Arslan, sitting in the front seat of the SUV. Arslan was driving, and Irene and Arabel were in the back seat, communicating through a mental link.

At this moment, they were driving through the streets of the capital, heading towards the exit of the city. Their target was the Stone family’s former territory outside the city.

Hailey stayed at the inn to look after Felicia, and Aliya was returned to the staff of the Association after Arabel removed the slave collar from her neck.

And Coco was snoring softly on Idan’s shoulder.

“That day, the Stone family’s territory was completely destroyed, but due to the anomaly, the entire area around it underwent mysterious changes,” Arslan began, driving an SUV and talking about the events that took place after Idan and Arabel disappeared.

“As I mentioned earlier, almost immediately after your disappearance, a mysterious force expelled everyone, and a strange barrier appeared around the Hill. This barrier prevented anyone from seeing what was going on inside, let alone getting inside,” Arslan continued to share information.

“Just a few hours after the event, the Association and the Federation joined forces to completely surround the family’s territory and surrounding lands, creating a Restricted Area so that no one could approach this place.”

“That’s why we can’t get closer to the barrier, right?” Now Idan, after listening to Arslan’s explanation, finally realized.

“Yes, — Arslan confirmed. — During this time, the military managed to erect fences around the territory and set up constant patrols. No one is allowed inside without the permission of the Association and the Government of the Federation. Not only the military, but also the awakened ones from the Association and the Federation itself are serving there around the clock.”

“I wonder what they’re guarding so carefully? Perhaps they’ve managed to figure out the secret of the barrier?” Idan thought.

“And you? Weren’t you interested in this barrier?” he asked.

“I just recently arrived, I didn’t have time,” Arslan replied. He saw the barrier only on his smartphone screen and on TV, when programs were shown with the participation of scientists who were trying to solve its mystery.

“Your sister probably has more information about it than I do,” he added.

“I see,” Idan nodded, and then, using their mental link, decided to ask about their relationship. “Speaking of my sister. How is your relationship going?”

“Well, more or less,” Arslan said with a wry smile. “Your sister is mad at me and still hasn’t forgiven me.”

“And why is she mad at you?” asked Idan.

“After the birth of our son, Irene completely immersed herself in her role as the guild leader, which she had neglected during the last months of her pregnancy, and in taking care of her newborn son. And instead of being by her side and helping her, on the contrary, I distanced myself, plunging into the role of the leader of my guild, trying to divert the curiosity of my family.”

Arslan sighed softly, realizing that the fragile intimacy they had quickly collapsed, and they began to move away from each other.

“If I showed up too often and stayed with Irene for a long time, the family would start to suspect. Especially since Irene hasn’t been out for a long time in recent months.” Arslan now regretted what he had done. He needed to fight for it, not be afraid that his family would find out about everything.

Arslan thought he was doing this for Irene’s sake, because she didn’t love his family. But in fact, he himself was afraid that his family would find out about their relationship.

“Your sister had a hard time after giving birth, and I wasn’t around at the time, so you have to understand how it affected her.”

Idan listened attentively, neither nodding nor saying a word. He was also going to discuss the issue of Milena, but in the end decided not to do it yet.

While Arslan and Idan were chatting, Arabel and Irene weren’t silent in the back seat either.

“Irene, will you have some free time one of these days?” Arabel asked, overcoming the slight fear that still remained towards Irene.

“Well, if you don’t take Bera, then yes, I will have time. Why?” replied Irene, as if hinting to Arabel not to take Bera away yet.

“I’ve noticed that Bera has become very attached to Aran, haven’t I?” asked Arabel.
