Trafford's Trading Club

Until the end of the piece, the final notes faded into the air, Luo Qiu finally tore his gaze from the maid, looking towards the terrace.

The city lights outside the hotel reflected on the sliding glass door, and a somewhat innocent-looking face simultaneously appeared in the light and shadow.

“What a polite little fellow.”

Luo Qiu pressed another key, its sound bounced out, and at that moment, the glass door to the terrace automatically opened, causing a figure to tumble into the room.

But he quickly found his balance, though a bit awkward, he didn’t actually fall onto the carpet… A black coat wrapped around his body.

The coat was really big, actually not fitting, making him look a bit ridiculous—even the fisherman hat he wore almost drooped down to his eyebrows, and there were still loose areas.

His hands were hidden within the sleeves.

He stood there awkwardly, seemingly unsure of how to react to the situation… So he resolutely chose to retreat, turning around and rushing out to the terrace, jumping onto the terrace wall.

Luo Qiu, however, said, “Everyone outside is looking for you, right? It’s not too late to leave after things calm down, at least it’ll save you some trouble.”

He was squatting on the wall, pressing down with both hands… The moment the voice came, he was in mid-jump, but he paused, his jumping posture unfinished, causing his body to lose balance and fall.

He truly fell.

Ah—!

He uttered a soft cry of fear as his body disappeared over the wall, but in the next moment, a hand climbed up the wall again, followed by a second hand.

The small head cautiously rose from outside the wall, scouting everything inside the room, only to see the young man inside slowly approaching step by step.

…

Luo Qiu had already given up—anyway, even if he stayed in the room and didn’t go out, things would probably still happen. Now, he was adopting an attitude of breaking the pot since it’s already cracked.

The eyes were amber and uniquely slit-pupiled, on a face smeared with dirt and oil, a few long whiskers were visible symmetrically.

“Beastman?” The maid, who walked over with Boss Luo, recognized the intruder at a glance.

This seemed like a switch, instantly stimulating him, his amber pupils showing a hint of sharpness… He pushed off with both hands, lifting his body high, then lunging towards Luo Qiu and You Ye from above.

This sudden attack would trigger Boss Luo’s absolute defenses from the club… Luo Qiu had no choice but to wave his hand.

Before the attack landed, a gentle force blew him away, causing him to fall into the small pool on the terrace.

Splash, water splattered everywhere.

The water in the small pool was actually not deep… But unexpectedly, the intruder started to drown, struggling desperately in the water.

The coat and hat were long gone, and he finally ‘crawled’ to the pool’s edge, lifting his head and gasping for air, as if having narrowly escaped death.

But at this moment, the pair of furry ears on his head were trembling slightly.

His expression was uncertain, his gaze locked tightly onto the master and servant in front of him… The intent to attack seemed not to have disappeared.

Luo Qiu and the maid exchanged glances.

The maid softly said, “The situation for beastmen seems rather dire, so their vigilance is stronger towards those who recognize them. In the Middle Ages, beastmen even became slaves and playthings for the aristocracy… Even today, some people are involved in capturing beastmen for trade.”

This naturally occurred on the European mainland—having grown up in China, Luo Qiu had never witnessed it personally.

“I see…” Boss Luo nodded, then looked at the little beastman and said in English, “I’m sorry, we don’t mean you any harm.”

But the small beastman in the pool let out an angry shout, once again lunging out of the water.

“That’s Turkish,” the maid reminded from the side.

Luo Qiu had to purchase fluency in the language, and said again, “We really mean no harm, we just don’t want you causing trouble outside again, after all, this hotel… has some connection to me.”

He personally restrained the little beastman’s next attack—he did it himself because compared to the maid, Boss Luo was better at delicate work.

If the maid used black flames for restraint, even at the lowest intensity, it would cause a painful burning sensation.

“You see, if we wanted to harm you, I think you wouldn’t have a second chance to attack… huh?” Seeing the little beastman suspended in midair, Luo Qiu was taken aback.
