The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 316: Chapter 316: Don’t Do Anything Foolish (Part 2)_1

”No, I have to go and settle accounts with her,” Tong Liushi suddenly slapped her thigh. ”That wench has to kneel on the street and apologize to Lingling...”

”What are you going to do?” Tong Gang grabbed his wife. ”Even if she did it, what can you do if she won’t admit it? Do you have any proof? Isn’t it all speculation? Besides, if it gets out, Lingling’s reputation will truly be ruined...”

”But...” Tong Liushi hurriedly stopped in her tracks. ”But can we just let it go like this?”

”If we could find the person who threw the clothes to testify, that would be one thing,” Tong Gang frowned. ”If you want open revenge, you need evidence...”

”Right,” Tong Liushi’s eyes lit up at once, turning to look at her daughter. ”What did those few people look like? Do you recognize them?”

”No...” Tong Lingling quickly shook her head with feigned innocence. ”No... I don’t recognize them...”

Tong Liushi frowned, looking towards her husband.

Tong Gang also frowned. Without a witness or evidence, there was simply no way to take revenge on Yang Dani.

”Mother, consider it my bad luck,” Tong Lingling stamped her foot and dove back into her quilt. ”Don’t push me anymore; I’m already too ashamed. If my cousin finds out, then I... I might as well hang myself...”

”Rest for now, and don’t go anywhere these next few days,” Tong Gang glanced at his daughter. ”Let’s wait until this has blown over.”

Although Tong Lingling wasn’t smart, she wasn’t foolish either. She knew her father was right. Only when the gossip died down and people forgot about this incident would she be safe. She obediently nodded her head.

Tong Gang then left his daughter’s room.

Tong Liushi sighed and hurried after him, then specifically called over the hired maid to give her a stern talking-to.

The maid certainly wouldn’t offend her employers. Of course, she would agree with whatever her masters said. Besides, she didn’t have the luxury of time to gossip; there was too much work to do every day.

”Gang,” Tong Liushi sought out Tong Gang again. ”Are we really just going to let it go like this?”

”What else do you want to do?”

”I...”

”I warn you, don’t do anything foolish behind my back,” Tong Gang knew his wife well; she was one to always want an eye for an eye, so he had to warn her seriously. ”Don’t be clever only to make things worse,” he paused. ”I’ll think of a way to deal with this. Let’s leave it at that.”

Tong Liushi, though not satisfied, could only nod. After all, in less than a month, it would be Guan Qingshu’s arena, and by then he was sure to be the Scholar. Over the years, they had invested a lot in Guan Qingshu, all for what? Wasn’t it just to grow closer through marriage? So, this matter really had to be kept under wraps for the time being.

Meanwhile, Yang Dani was unaware that she had once again become the target of hatred. She was leisurely walking back home with a bucket of shrimp in one hand and a basket of purchases on her back. Even if she knew that the Tong family was seething with the desire to devour her, she wouldn’t care. To use a popular phrase from her previous life: So many people hate me, what makes you think you’re so special?

Although the distance from the town to the village was not far, the road was flanked by woods and farmland. Any other lone woman would certainly be afraid, especially before and after noon, when there was not a soul in sight, but Yang Ruxin was not the least bit afraid. Besides being naturally courageous, she had the space, making any danger trivial to her.
