“Mom, you really shouldn’t move.” Yang Ruxin scrambled up, holding down Xun Hui, “You had a fever again last night.

Jiaya will come over to change your dressing later, so you need to stay in bed today.”

“But…”

“No buts.” Yang Ruxin’s tone was still imperious, “If you don’t want to become a young invalid who is a burden on us later in life, you’d better listen to me.

I’ll take care of whatever needs to be done today.”

“Mom, just listen to Dani,” Erni said, sitting up and rubbing her eyes as she began to get dressed.

Xun Hui really didn’t insist any longer, as her body was indeed still in severe pain.

The little ones began to wake up one after the other.

“Big sister.” Sini looked at Yang Ruxin first thing, and though her eyes were still heavy with sleep, she managed a sweet, drowsy smile.

Yang Ruxin’s heart melted instantly.

She went over to pat the little girl’s head, glanced at Sanni, and then slipped her feet into embroidered shoes that had two holes in them: “Sanni, you stay and sleep with Sini and Xiaofeng for a bit longer.

Get up when breakfast is ready.”

Sanni was taken aback.

“Big sister, we need to get up to feed the chickens…” Yang Rufeng’s voice was whiny, “otherwise, mom will scold us.”

“How old are you guys, anyway?

Not getting enough sleep will stunt your growth,” Yang Ruxin frowned, “Besides, there are so many people in the family, we don’t need you to do it.

If mom scolds, just pretend you didn’t hear…” These children, if they don’t get enough sleep and nutrition, they won’t grow in height or develop properly in intellect.

The Yang Family was being stricter than the landlord.

Sanni was stunned just for a moment, but quickly laid back down.

From yesterday’s ordeal, she now realized that Dani was no longer the same and that it was better to just listen to her.

Farm families get up early, usually at the crow of the rooster, around five in the morning.

So, when Yang Ruxin stepped outside, she saw Yang Peili busily banging on something with a hoe, preparing for plowing.

Erni took a basin to fetch water: “Sister, come and wash your face.”

Yang Ruxin frowned slightly.

Not brushing her teeth was uncomfortable, but there was no choice.

The family did have tooth-brushing salt, but Yang Anshi didn’t like to share it with them.

Seeing that Yang Ruxin didn’t move, Erni seemed to remember something.

She ran out and came back quickly, holding two leaves in her hand: “Here.”

Yang Ruxin looked at the two leaves in front of her, her eyes lighting up, they were mint leaves: “Where did you get these?”

“There’s plenty by the riverside.” Erni, looking as if she’d never heard of Yang Dani, said, “Mom doesn’t give us green salt, haven’t we always chewed on Silver Pill Grass instead?”

Yang Ruxin’s eyebrows twitched.

Could this really be chewed raw like that?

She wasn’t versed in traditional Chinese medicine and wasn’t sure, but from Erni’s tone, it seemed it wasn’t lethal and she also noticed Dani’s mouth didn’t have the odor of not brushing.

Perhaps it was related to chewing this plant.

She took a leaf and chewed it for a while.

Her mouth indeed felt a lot fresher.

After spitting it out, she began to wash her face.

“What’s with this laziness?” Yang Anshi’s distinctively shrill voice finally rang out, and then she emerged from the main house, “It’s already bright out, the yard isn’t swept, the chickens and pigs aren’t fed, and breakfast isn’t made, what are you doing?

Want to be a young lady of leisure or what?”
