Gu Tianqing nodded and smiled.

Though Rong Yan looked upset initially, his mood improved after he saw her approving nod and smile.

The incident was actually masterminded by the both of them, Rong Yan and Gu Tianqing. She had hidden something beneath Gu Xijiu’s bed and the reason for her nod was to hint him that she had placed the item there, telling him not to worry.

However, Gu Xijiu had noticed all their actions and expressions.

She then left them alone for a little while longer, waiting to see if they could manage a smile later.

”Miss Gu, are you worried?” Gu Xijiu heard someone talking.

She turned around and it was the prince, Rong Che who stood by her side, looking at her with a smile. Since when had he gotten so close to her?! She did not even realize it! The Duke seemed to be quite good at martial arts!

Gu Xijiu intentionally stepped back to keep the distance and coldly said, ”What’s there to be worried about? I’m fine.”

”Nothing to worry about? I like that phrase!” Rong Che fanned himself with his folding fan and said, ”Although you had done nothing wrong, it doesn’t mean others wouldn’t do such things. For example, if someone were to have placed something in your residence and you failed to notice it, you’d be in deep shit if they really did find anything.”

It would seem that most people at the scene were all experienced officers, except the young girls. They knew what message he wanted to send them.

Rong Yan and Gu Tianqing’s facial expression changed immediately.

Rong Yan smiled in reluctance and said, ”Look, my brother. Though Xijiu’s residence is very quiet, the General’s residence is also very strict. I don’t think people would be able to simply enter and exit such a place. It would be extremely difficult for anyone to come in, plant something then push the blame on her.”

Rong Che tapped Rong Yan’s shoulder with his fan and said, ”You’re still young, brother. Sometimes, even family members could murder one another!”

Rong Yan remained silent and coughed. He later said, ”That sounds very wrong brother. It could ruin the reputation of the General’s family. What could be the objective for such actions?”

Rong Che smiled and said, ”It’s difficult to tell. Aren’t the two people who told the truth from the General’s residence? People will go to certain extents to achieve their goals.”

Rong Yang was only 16 years old and was not experienced as his elder brother. His expression instantly changed when Rong Che voiced his opinion. Rong Yan smiled in reluctance and said,”That’s strange! What benefit would that person get for planting such a trap? I really don’t have a clue.”

Rong Che kept looking at Rong Yan, making him uneasy. When Rong Yan was about to speak, Rong Che said slowly, ”My young brother, you look great recently, eh? I’ve heard that many girls are after you but you’re now engaged to the sixth daughter of the Gu family. I bet they’re quite pissed and want to take her place...”
