The Glamorous Comeback of the Ousted Heiress

Chapter 552: Bustling Jiangjing, Three Visits to the Thatched Cottage Principal Shi (Two Chapters Combined)_5

Mao Kun touched the back of his head, not quite understanding, as he took Bai Lian to Jiangjing University. “Then you go read your books, I’ll go look around and see where I can buy some cabbage seeds.”

**

Jiangjing University.

In the computer room, Xu Wenyao received a message from Bai Lian and got up to pack his things.

“Have you finished with the data?” asked a male student wearing black-rimmed glasses, noticing Xu Wenyao packing up again, squinting his eyes.

“Almost,” Xu Wenyao explained, “My sister is going to the library, I’m going to pick her up at the entrance.”

...
Bai Lian probably hadn’t made a reservation at Jiangjing University, and couldn’t even get through the school gate.

“Your sister?” Another boy with a sunny-looking face leaned over, “Is it that Xu Zhiyue who has been constantly in third place on the app lately?”

She was also a top student.

Xu Wenyao remembered, Bai Lian seemed not to have the app, “It’s another one.”

He thought again, Bai Lian and Xu Zhiyue would both be attending Jiangjing University in the future.

This place was filled with the elite of Jiangjing University. “Does everyone have time for lunch? I’ll treat you guys. My sister will also be your junior here.”

The boy with the black-rimmed glasses ignored Xu Wenyao and silently stared at his computer.

The sunny-looking boy withdrew his gaze, expressionless, “I still have some data to finish.”

Among these proud talents of the heavens, Xu Wenyao wasn’t particularly outstanding. Moreover, everyone else had already chosen their professors, while he was still uncommitted, and the longer he waited, the less likely he’d find a good mentor.

They all said they were busy.

“I’m almost done with my modeling, Lao Xu,” said a male student sitting next to Xu Wenyao, shutting down his computer, “Let’s go, let’s treat your sister to lunch at the Third Canteen.”

The Third Canteen was a private restaurant that was expensive but served delicious food.

This was Xu Wenyao’s roommate, Chen Hong. They had always been on good terms.

After leaving the computer room, Chen Hong looked back with a complaint about the others, “This Qi Jun, relying on his cousin being a student of Dr. Zuo, is so mercenary. If you said you were inviting Miss Qi to dinner, these guys would make sure not to miss it.”

Xu Wenyao never spoke ill of others behind their backs, and simply replied, “I broke up with her.”

Qi Shuyun was also quite well-known in their cohort; her mentor was Dr. Zuo, a student of Dean Huang.

Everyone knew whose student Dean Huang was.

She had also joined a family of academic elites, and after people in the class learned of Xu Wenyao’s breakup, their attitudes changed.

“I don’t know why you broke up with her, Dr. Zuo… What kind of paper do I have to write to get noticed by him?” Chen Hong looked wistful, then sighed, “Ah well, let’s go to the school gate to meet your sister first. Did she also get into our school?”

“She just got accepted,” Xu Wenyao nodded.

“I heard there was a monster in today’s freshman college entrance exam, probably someone like Senior He Wen. Your sister is amazing to get into our school this year,” Chen Hong remarked, somewhat curious. He knew about Xu Zhiyue but hadn’t heard Xu Wenyao mention his other sister.

She also got into Jiangjing?

Xu Wenyao’s phone rang just then, and he looked down, stopping in his tracks, “She says she’s at the library.”

She must have made a reservation earlier.

Xu Wenyao thought, with her otherworldly beauty, how would she know to make a reservation in advance.

Approaching noon.

Xu Wenyao told her the location of the Third Canteen, and they met there.

**

Outside the library.

Bai Lian was holding a stack of books she had borrowed, lazily flipping through her phone. Xu Wenyao was taking her to the Third Canteen for lunch.

He captured a map and told her to take the campus bus for three stops.

There was a stop right outside the library. She was wearing a long green dress with mid-length sleeves. The sunshine spilled over her face, her black hair half-pulled back behind her head, the rest lazily draped over her left shoulder.

Like a character stepping out of a water ink painting, many passersby turned to look at her, and some hesitatingly thought about approaching with their phones to strike up a conversation.

Bai Lian gathered her gaze, about to exit WeChat to check out the challenge questions on the Jiangjing app for the day.

A message popped up.
