The Glamorous Comeback of the Ousted Heiress

Chapter 539: 217 heard that you are Bai Lian’s father, I specially came to visit_1

“`

The Song Family, Mrs. Song held scissors, snipping at the flower branches now and then.

Her gaze, however, was fixed in Song Min’s direction.

“Are you still worried about his grades?” Mr. Song looked at Mrs. Song’s absent-minded state and chuckled. Song Min had never given them any worry, especially regarding academics, “It’s strange; why hasn’t the principal called today?”

Mrs. Song’s thoughts drifted far, and with a “snip,” she cut a branch without speaking.

Song Min sat on the couch, slightly leaning against it, his fingertips tapped on the magnifying glass icon on the website to the right, his eyes coolly watching the grades page.

...
The page spun for a while before it displayed his score and ranking.

[Total Score: 686

Provincial Ranking: 5

National Ranking: 36]

A score of 700 was a watershed mark, with nearly every point below it accounting for several ranks’ difference.

Especially in the 400-500 score range, with nearly a million students across the province, a single point could mean a difference of tens of thousands of ranks.

This time, the national ranking was still within Song Min’s estimation, but the provincial ranking made Song Min stand up involuntarily.

He didn’t speak for a long time, and Mr. Song put down the phone and walked over, “What’s wrong? Did you do poorly? No matter, a momentary slip-up…”

Mr. Song felt it odd. Song Min always had access to excellent educational resources, especially with the Yin Family’s support. The resources he obtained were difficult for other Beicheng students to acquire, as was the case with the Boyuan Base recently.

Even if Song Min performed poorly, he didn’t think Song Min could do that badly.

It wasn’t until he looked down and saw the fifth place provincial ranking on Song Min’s phone.

“Are there so many people in your class that ranked within the top thirty of the national examination?” Mr. Song frowned, feeling that something was off.

The Bai Family also sensed something amiss.

Bai Shaoqi knew she was secure for Jiangjing University after she estimated her score. Recently, she had been associating closely with Beiyin and the Jian Family. Jian Rong was friends with Bai Shaoke, and she herself was a member of the Beicheng Music Association.

Knowing she was a good student at Beicheng High School, Principal Luo had subtly hinted that when the Jiangjing Music Association made recommendations this year, they would favor her.

For her, everything had been smooth sailing, blossoming on both sides.

Bai Shaoke was following in Professor Jiang’s footsteps, assisting him, and the Bai Family members were already preparing to celebrate at the ancestral hall.

They were all waiting for her to return.

But…

“Eighth in the province?” Bai Qiming’s smile froze at the corners of his mouth upon hearing Bai Shaoqi’s ranking. His eyes narrowed as he looked towards her, “How come you’re only eighth in the province?”

Previously, Bai Shaoqi had never ranked lower than the top five.

The butler stood behind Bai Shaoqi, “Sir, although the young miss is eighth in the province, her national ranking is still 201. With this ranking, she can choose a very nice major at Jiangjing University.”

A good half of Jiangjing University doesn’t need to take the college entrance exam but attends a special recruitment summer camp.

Half are college entrance examination students, and there is another small fraction of foreign students.

Hearing the butler discuss Bai Shaoqi’s national ranking, Bai Qiming’s smile returned to his face, his tone considerably warmer, “Shaoqi, is this true, can you really get into Jiangjing University?”

Although surprised, Bai Shaoqi had great confidence in her ranking, “Yes, this ranking will get me into Jiangjing University, but it’s hard to get into popular majors.”

Bai Qiming had not expected her to achieve the same splendid result of provincial top scholar like her brother.

Such dual success in one family was difficult. Her admission to Jiangjing University was already beyond Bai Qiming’s expectations.

“As long as you can get into Jiangjing University, that’s good,” Bai Qiming’s stern expression vanished, he tapped his fingertips on the table, clearly in a good mood, he turned his head and ordered the butler, “You go and find some reporters to release the news. Also, ask the clan leader if he’s free the day after tomorrow.”
