The Glamorous Comeback of the Ousted Heiress

Chapter 246: 092 All-around Crush_3

“Hey, no worries, we’ll meet again in a year,” Weng Qi said nonchalantly, patting Zhang Shize on the shoulder.

Director Chen granted them access, and quite a crowd stayed in the detention room.

He smiled cheerfully, looking no different from usual.

Ning Xiao spoke little; he just looked at Zhang Shize and said, “Now you’re really one of the good guys.”

“Oh and also,” Pu Xiaohan put a stack of notebooks and exercise books on the table, “Chi Lu said you’re going to take the entrance exam for the University of Political Science and Law. We’ve asked the police, and you’re allowed to read while being reformed. These are all the books we’ve prepared for you, study well.”

Zhang Shize grinned, but his smile didn’t last a minute.

He looked down to see a pile of books and notebooks.

...
“Take some time to study properly,” Bai Lian sat on the only chair inside, casually crossing his long legs and gently tapping the backrest with his arm. His eyes slightly squinted, but his tone was as consistent as ever, “Every seven days, Jiang and I will come to tutor you and check your learning progress.”

Of course, this was something Jiang Fulai had fought for Zhang Shize.

Normally, visits were only allowed once every half a month, but since Zhang Shize was a student,

and shown a tendency to strive, an extra visitation right was granted. The law is unemotional, yet it carries a touch of humanity.

“What?” Zhang Shize never expected that he still had to study while inside.

Bai Lian and Jiang Fulai were going to come and tutor him?

…Jiang Fulai?

The person who seemed to despise him with a glance was coming to give him tutorials?

Bai Lian looked up, glanced at him very calmly, that look seemed to pose the question “Do you have any doubts?”

Zhang Shize:

Right, he had no doubts.

The group didn’t take up too much of Zhang Shize’s time; they were there to represent the entire class to visit him, leaving time for Zhang Shize’s family later.

The bunch of young boys and girls laughed and chatted as if nothing had changed from before.

The visitation time ended quickly, and one by one, they left.

Before leaving, Bai Lian finally reached out and patted his shoulder, “Are you scared?”

Zhang Shize’s eyelashes trembled slightly.

“Don’t be afraid,” Bai Lian’s gaze seemed to look right through him, towards a distant place, “The people you’re protecting aren’t just those nineteen individuals; we don’t disrespect life, but when it comes to drawing a gun, it’s for the sake of those behind us we want to protect.”

Once outside the detention room,

the lively group of students seemed to hit the pause button instantly.

The corridor was dark and narrow, as if there was no daylight.

“A year, huh…” Pu Xiaohan looked back, staring at the small house.

Weng Qi also looked back.

In two days, Zhang Shize would be taken to Xiangcheng Prison to serve his sentence.

He was only nineteen in virtual years.

Regarding the verdict for Zhang Shize,

some were relieved, while others were not convinced.

Liu Dong was at the forefront of discontent.

When he went to find Zhao Jingzhou again, Zhao Jingzhou was just finishing up with the police evidence collection.

Outside the police station, the setting sun was ablaze like fire.

Zhao Jingzhou simply gave Liu Dong a cold look, “I remember before the trial began, I told you more than once that you must tell me everything about the case with no omissions. Whatever the client has done, I, as a lawyer, will keep it confidential. Clearly, you do not trust me.”

This is a rule known by everyone in the industry.

But as a businessman, Liu Dong could not trust anyone, even if the other person was a lawyer.

So today, Zhao Jingzhou was utterly defeated.

“Lawyer Zhao,” Liu Dong also acknowledged his mistake today, quickly apologizing and then stating his request, “I would like to file for an appeal…”

Zhang Shize was sentenced to only one year.

He was far from satisfied with that verdict.

“An appeal?” Zhao Jingzhou stopped and looked at Liu Dong, almost laughing as he interrupted, “You still dare to file an appeal for Chi Lu’s case. Do you perhaps know what Teacher Chi’s main job is by any chance?”
