There are as many Guzheng teachers in Xiangcheng as there are hairs on an ox.

But among them, only one is the most famous.

Teacher Yue.

Ji Shaorong took Ren Jiawei’s words to heart, especially when it involved Bai Lian.

“It’s my fault,” Ren Jiawei, thinking back to their first unpleasant meeting which caused her to be unfriendly, as Bai Lian had been described in the same way as Shen Qing by the secretary-general, decided, “I’ll go find the Guzheng teacher myself.”

...
Ren Jiawei also found it strange.

Although Guzheng isn’t as valuable as the piano, learning it still requires a certain family background and artistic cultivation.

She hadn’t expected Bai Lian to play the Guzheng.

Ji Shaorong knew very little about Ji Mulan and Bai Lian, “Dad said she really likes the Guzheng.”

As for her performance, nobody had seen it except for Ji Heng.

Even Ji Heng had said so.

“You bring Alian to Wanhe Building at noon,” Ren Jiawei haphazardly decided as she put on her sunglasses and grabbed her car keys to meet Teacher Yue, “I’ll have Teacher Yue wait there with you.”

Ji Shaorong didn’t have a chance to say a word.

Ren Jiawei had already stepped on the gas and left.

He could only pick up his cell phone and send a WeChat message to Bai Lian.

At noon, Ji Shaorong waited for Bai Lian at the school gate.

“Dad.” Ren Wanxuan spotted Ji Shaorong from a distance.

Seeing Ren Wanxuan, Ji Shaorong slowed down and pondered for a while. Knowing he could not hide this matter from Ren Wanxuan, he explained, “I’m taking Alian to meet a Guzheng teacher.”

Ren Wanxuan’s fingernails dug deep into her palm. She lifted her head, seemingly indifferent.

Bai Lian arrived quickly.

Ren Wanxuan watched as Ji Shaorong took Bai Lian away, her eyes darkening.

“Guzheng teacher?” Bai Lian trailed behind Ji Shaorong, thumb pressing on her notebook, unfazed, and looked up slightly, thinking they had been joking just yesterday.

Was this for real?

Bai Lian opened her mouth, intending to say it wasn’t necessary, but seeing Ji Shaorong’s excitement, she touched her nose and followed.

“That teacher is Teacher Yue, the best Guzheng teacher in Xiangcheng, but he rarely takes on disciples…” Ji Shaorong walked while introducing Teacher Yue to her.

With that, he pushed the door open and entered the private room.

Inside the private room.

Ren Jiawei was making polite conversation with Teacher Yue.

Upon seeing Bai Lian enter, Ren Jiawei stood up and introduced her to Teacher Yue respectfully, “This is the student I wanted to introduce to you, Bai Lian.”

Teacher Yue was over fifty with slightly graying hair and a pair of dark, turbid eyes.

He held his teacup, his gaze subtly sizing up Bai Lian.

Bai Lian’s fingers were slender and fair, without a single callus.

Anyone who learned Guzheng would inevitably get calluses. Without calluses, it was almost an exception—

An outsider.

“I heard from Manager Ren that you want to learn Guzheng,” Teacher Yue frowned slightly as he looked at Bai Lian and asked, “Why do you want to learn?”

Bai Lian paused but was always polite to teachers.

After a moment’s thought, she answered honestly, “Because my m… my mom asked me to learn.”

“Just for that?” Teacher Yue’s brow furrowed tighter, he didn’t think Bai Lian was lying, but his expression became even more serious, “Then tell me, how many major schools of Guzheng are there now?”

Are there still schools for Guzheng now?

Bai Lian raised her eyebrows.

Back in her day, there had been only one school.

Had her senior brothers and sisters split up?

Teacher Yue knew from Bai Lian’s expression that she was unaware. Anyone with even a bit of Guzheng knowledge would know the nine major schools. He stood up leaning on the table, “You know nothing, how are you going to learn the Guzheng? Young lady, the Guzheng is a sacred art, not something for you to seek attention with. I’m sorry, Manager Ren, I cannot accept this student.”

Upon opening the door, he saw Ren Wanxuan standing outside, which startled her.

She subconsciously glanced at Bai Lian standing inside, then whispered softly, “Dad…”

Ji Shaorong suddenly remembered, pulled out his phone, and opened a video, “Wait, Teacher Yue, I have a recording of Alian’s Guzheng performance. Could you take a look first?”
