Rebirth: Pampered Wife’s Counterattack

Chapter 86: ‘Rewarding’ Them With Two Bottles Of Red Wine (2)

He had tried to trick Fang Xinxin into fooling Bai Qinghao. Considering Bai Qinghao’s ruthless character, if Bai Chenxi hadn’t been a member of the Bai family, he would already be dead by now.

Where exactly did he go wrong?

Bai Chenxi struggled to accept the outcome. He turned to look at Fang Xinxin. Why was Bai Qinghao, given his usual intolerant attitude, able to accept her presence here despite her not providing any explanations?

Bai Chenxi could not come up with any possible reasons. He reached up to touch his bleeding scalp and replied in a trembling voice. “CEO Bai is wise!”

With these four words, he was acknowledging that Fang Xinxin did not like him, nor had she come to meet him tonight.

Bai Qinghao seemed to believe in Fang Xinxin, and he had already received his punishment. To further insist on the matter would be akin to asking for death. In this case, it was better to lower his head temporarily.

Bam!

Bai Chenxi collapsed head first onto the ground.

The cunning fox, Fang Lilan, who had worked in the business circle for a long time, could not stop her legs from shaking at sight of Bai Chenxi lying in a pool of his own blood.

“C… CEO Bai, I… I was instigated by Bai Chenxi. I judged him wrongly. I shouldn’t have trusted everything Bai Chenxi said…”

Right now, she could only push the entire blame towards Bai Chenxi.

It wasn’t clear if Bai Chenxi was unconscious or dead. Nonetheless, he wouldn’t be able to hear her words or defend himself in this state.

“Borrowing the opportunity to slander Fang Xinxin…”

Bai Qinghao’s eyes were narrowed into slits. Murderous intent surrounded him. “Do you think you can escape the responsibility just by claiming that you trusted his words?”

Fang Lilan was dying under his frightening gaze. “C… CEO Bai, I, I… what should I do for you to forgive me?”

Bai Qinghao’s gaze shifted onto the unopened bottle of wine lying on the table. “What do you think? Since your head is bad at judging people, and you’ve wronged Fang Xinxin, isn’t it simple? We’ll use a little bit of red wine to wake you up.”

Fang Lilan pretended not to understand him and intentionally twisted his meaning. “You’re asking me to drink some wine, is it? I’ll drink immediately, immediately!”

She grabbed the bottle opener and uncorked the bottle. She lifted it up and took several, large gulps.

She drank in a rush and even choked due to her frenzy.

“I detest it when people play dumb in front of me.” Bai Qinghao did not give her the slightest bit of face. “It seems like I’ll have to ask my people to ‘reward’ you with wine!”

Immediately, one of the bodyguards snatched the bottle from Fang Lilan’s hand and raised it to hit it against her head.

Fang Lilan threw herself onto Fang Xinxin with a shriek. “Xinxin, xinxin, you have to save me! I’m your mom.”

Fang Xinxin spoke up mockingly. “Did you ever treat me like your daughter? You even conspired with Bai Chenxi, an outsider, to trick me.”

“I was wrong!” Fang Lilan’s face was covered in tears. “Your mom was misguided by Bai Chenxi. I really thought you were genuinely in love with Bai Chenxi. That’s why I believed in him. If that bottle of wine is smashed on my head, your mom’s brain will be badly damaged. Please beg the Commander to let me off!”

Bai Qinghao’s ink-black pupils were focused on Fang Xinxin. “If you beg for her, I will let her go.”

He wasn’t sure why, but when it came to Fang Xinxin’s thoughts and desires, whether they were correct or wrong, he wanted to help her fulfil them all.

“You heard him! CEO Bai said that as long as you speak up, he will forgive me.” Fang Lilan gripped Fang Xinxin’s elbow anxiously.
