Tang Mo’er looked at the live stream next door. Lu Qi’er was clad in a white dress and singing her first hit song, ‘Legend’. Having not sung it in many years, it brought back memories of a time when she had sung the song with a outstanding passion that had skyrocketed her to her present fame.

“Mo’er, we need to hurry and think of a plan. Looking at the current online votes, we’ll be completely dominated by Lin Ruoxi if we don’t do anything!”

With her face propped on one hand, Tang Mo’er was surpassingly calm. “Qi Xi, don’t panic. It’s not surprising for her to sing ‘Legend’. If you think about it, she has always had this as her trump card, even from the beginning.”

“Then what should we do?”

What should we do? Tang Mo’er slowly turned and looked at Lin Shiyu.

…

In the live stream next door.

“Qi’er, Ruoxi, I’ve just received news that Lin Shiyu is about to sing ‘Legend’. How can that be? Who does she think she is!”

Lu Qi’er was stunned. What?

Lin Ruoxi laughed and held Lu Qi’er’s arms. “Sister Qi’er, Lin Shiyu is just trying to blindly copy you and make herself look dumb. ‘Legend’ is your debut song and number one hit. God, it’s hilarious how she even has the guts to show her incompetence. I almost feel embarrassed for her!”

“Exactly. Everyone on the internet has huge doubts towards their beloved ‘Beauty Lin’. We’re set to win.”

“Sister Qier, Sister Qier…” Seeing that Lu Qi’er was in a daze, Lin Ruoxi tugged at her arm.

Lu Qi’er immediately regained her composure, but her face was still extremely pale.

“Sister Qi’er, what’s wrong? Your hands are icy cold.”

…

The news of Lin Shiyu singing ‘Legend’ had hit the headlines. There was a lot of doubt clamoring all over the internet.

‘Beauty Lin, no matter how well you sing, you’ll never beat Lu Qier. Please change your song as soon as possible.’

‘Beauty Lin and Beauty Tang, you’re evidently leveraging on the popularity of your neighbors next door. Don’t blame me if I become nasty to your fans!’

‘I protest! Don’t ruin the song ‘Legend’!’

…

“Shiyu, are you ready?” Tang Mo’er fluttered her eyelashes and asked Lin Shiyu eagerly amidst the shadow of doubt that was enshrouding them.

There was something about the way Lin Shiyu’s eyes glistened.

“Mm.”

Tang Mo’er played the music. Lin Shiyu picked up the microphoneー

One fine day, you wrote me a letter.

I did not know your name nor have I seen your face.

My heart blossoms

This is the legend of you and me…

Qi Xi sucked in a deep breath and her jaw dropped as she stared at Lin Shiyu in shock. To be honest, she was against Lin Shiyu singing the song ‘Legend’, as the song was deeply associated with Lu Qier’s brand. It was Lu Qi’er’s song. There were people who did covers of the song, but failed to deliver the meaning of the song. As a result, ‘Legend’ became a masterpiece.

It was Qi Xi’s first time hearing Lin Shiyu’s voice when singing. Lin Shiyu’s vocals were clean and ethereal, just like her cold and brilliant self. It was as if the song ‘Legend’ was made naturally for her and her alone. The resulting song was more than spectacular and left Qi Xi speechless.

The moment Lin Shiyu started singing, her voice completely dominated over Lu Qi’er next door.

In the live stream next door, Lin Ruoxi had initially wanted to watch drama unfold. However, the moment she heard Lin Shiyu’s voice, she was shocked.

Soon, she saw such comments appearing on her live streamー

‘Oh my god. Lin Shiyu has such an angelic voice. I’m in awe!’

‘Lin Shiyu has given ‘Legend’ a new breath of life.’

‘Lu Qi’er, go next door and listen to Lin Shiyu. She can teach you a thing or two!’

‘Let’s have an interview. Miss Lu, as the original singer, how do you feel about someone’s song cover sounding better than your own original rendition?’

“Lu Qi’er, what’s going on?” Lin Ruoxi looked at Lu Qier.

Lu Qier’s face became pale and she did not say anything in response.

…

Five minutes later, Lin Shiyu finished singing ‘Legend’. Tang Mo’er’s online ranking had immediately overwhelmed Lin Ruoxi and reached the top.

Tang Mo’er and Lin Shiyu opened the door and stepped out into the corridor, only to walk into Lin Ruoxi and Lu Qier.

Lin Ruoxi snapped in anger, “Lin Shiyu, your cover of ‘Legend’ is act of an infringement. You’ll be hearing from our lawyer.”
