Watching Yu Zi eat with gusto gave him a better appetite too. Although she did not pretend while she was eating, she did not eat like a slob either. She ate everything cleanly, with a hint of elegance. He could tell that it was a habit instilled in her since her childhood, which just showed how well she was taught at home.

At the same time, however, he felt a little down. She could eat in front of him so carelessly because he had no place in her heart, right?

If she fancied him even a little, she would definitely take more care.

Yan Huaian was completely conflicted between his joy and dejection.

Yu Zi did not understand how conflicted Yan Huaian was at all, however, eating as she praised him, “Your food’s really delicious, even more authentic than the stuff they make at those American style restaurants.”

“You like to eat hot food, so I paid special attention to that,” Yan Huaian said with a laugh. “I never asked you, do you prefer a Western-style breakfast or the traditional food we eat here?”

Since he had studied in the UK before, he was better at making Western-style breakfasts. It looked simple, but it took quite a lot of effort.

Yu Zi felt that she was eating Yan Huaian’s breakfast for free, and he had gotten up so early to prepare the food, so there was no way she could bring herself to make more demands.

Besides, compared to the stuff she had been eating before, this was practically the five-star treatment.

Before, she would even chew on some bread accompanied by the cold air on the way to work. Now she was inside, eating a hot sandwich. There was plenty of filling, and the bread was soft on the inside while still crispy on the outside. She even had a cup of hot chocolate to drink. If this was a weekend, she would feel even more relaxed.

That was why Yu Zi shook her head and said, “I’m not picky, both are tasty. As long as it’s hot, I love it all the same.”

As she said that, she took another large bite of the sandwich to show that she was not just saying it to be polite.

Yan Huaian was glad to hear that too, but he still had his own plans in mind.

After eating, Yan Huaian took out another small lunch box and gave it to Yu Zi.

Yu Zi took off the cover to see that the little lunch box was filled with different compartments of cut fruits. There were apples, oranges, kiwis, and even cherry tomatoes. Next to the fruits, there was another small compartment just for the fruit fork.

Since the fruits were all already neatly cut, she did not have to touch them with her fingers. She could just eat them with the fork.

By this point, Yu Zi was stunned by Yan Huaian’s considerateness.

“I invited you over last minute last night, so I didn’t prepare anything much. From now on, I’ll prepare after-meal fruits for you every day. You can eat them in the car or back at your company,” Yan Huaian said.

Yu Zi held the lunch box, unable to put her feelings into words. It felt as though something was different, like something warm flowed past her heart.

Lowering her head to look at the fruits, she still could not believe that a man could be this detailed.

“I’ll go get a coat, and then we can leave,” Yan Huaian said, turning to go to the cloakroom.

While Yan Huaian was away, Yu Zi looked down at the different types of fruits. They were brightly-colored and pretty, and just looking at them made her feel better.

She could not help but hold her chest. What was up with this feeling of warmth from being cared about so delicately and whole-heartedly?

Her heart seemed to be beating faster too.

You would only care so much for someone when they have a place in your heart.

Otherwise, who would pay so much attention to longer?

Was Yan Huaian paying attention to her, though?

A strange feeling swept past Yu Zi’s heart, and she put her hand to her chest, massaging it slightly. However, even that could not wave away that strange sensation.

Before she could figure it out, Yan Huaian had already emerged with his suit coat. He put it on as he walked, his every move indescribably cool.

When he caught her staring at him rather dazedly, he smiled slightly and walked up to her, standing in front of her.

His voice was deep and graceful. “What’s the matter?”

Yu Zi was called back to her senses, and she hurriedly shook her head. “Nothing.”
