The President is Being Shameless Again

“I’m not really sure either. I was once at the orphanage visiting the old principal and the children when I met a neighbor who had good news. She said her daughter-in-law was pregnant but told us that it was not a good thing to tell outsiders during the first three months. She said it was tradition and that you might encounter an accident if you told others too early. These are all old wife’s tales, but still, it’s better to only inform others after three months. Even though I think it’s scientifically inaccurate, it’s still important to respect tradition,” Lin Chu explained.

Yan Beicheng immediately became serious and nodded. “You’re right.”

Thus, he shut his lips tight and looked like he had decided to never to open his mouth again. It was as if he was not about to allow himself to say another word.

“Well, you don’t need to keep absolutely quiet,” Lin Chu said exasperatedly.

“Help me press the elevator button,” replied Yan Beicheng.

Lin Chu reached out to press the button. “You really need to let me down.”

“Nope, I’m carrying you. You said it yourself, I shouldn’t be shouting this information out loud for these three months. I’ve just done that. What if something happened to you?” Yan Beicheng replied obstinately.

“I can’t have that much bad luck,” Lin Chu was dumbfounded.

Yan Beicheng would not let her go no matter what she said. He carried her all the way into the gynecologist’s office, stunning the in-house doctor. “Is there… Is there something wrong with her?”

“No. It’s just that I’m worried that something will happen to her,” Yan Beicheng’s face was expressionless as if this was standard procedure.

Doctor, “…”

Lin Chu blushed. “Let… Let me down.”

Yan Beicheng finally relented and put Lin Chu down in a chair. Then, he handed the test results over to the doctor. “We were at the gastroenterologist just now. The doctor there said my wife was pregnant, but we need you to confirm it.”

Doctor, “…”

She could see that Yan Beicheng looked highly skeptical, and so felt sorry for the gastroenterologist on the duty just now.

The doctor read the results and confirmed, “Your wife is pregnant. It has been 46 days.”

Lin Chu lifted her head and looked happily at Yan Beicheng. “See, it’s true.”

Yan Beicheng’s tightly shut lips trembled. He wanted to laugh in delight but also wanted to maintain his cool image. He did not want to embarrass himself too much.

Lin Chu decided to ignore him and gave him time to adjust to the news. She asked the doctor again, “Is there anything I need to pay special attention to?”

The doctor was used to these questions, so she explained everything to Lin Chu in detail and later took out a small pamphlet. “This booklet is by our hospital. There is information here about what a pregnant woman should look out for during this period. There’s also information on what foods to have during different stages of your pregnancy. You need to watch your food and have regular exercise. All the information is there. Some emergencies might come up, so you should take care to read about it as well. If something happens as printed in the booklet, don’t get anxious. Just follow the instructions included and you will be fine.”

Lin Chu had not expected Chu Tian hospital to be so thorough. It was a very thoughtful gesture. No wonder those who could afford it were willing to come to this hospital. It was not just Chu Tian hospital’s good reputation that everyone talked about, but the fact that they did a good job in every aspect, so it made people feel safe and secure. Chu Tian hospital had even prepared for questions that the patients had not really thought about.

Even though it was a small pamphlet, it was as thick as a pocketbook. Lin Chu took the pamphlet and was about to put it away when Yan Beicheng snatched it from her.

Yan Beicheng flipped to the index section and scanned through it seriously. Lin Chu thought he was looking at what to look out for in the first three months.

However, she did not expect Yan Beicheng to ask seriously, “I’ve heard that husband and wife are still allowed to be intimate during the first three months, is that true?”

Lin Chu, “…”

He lived as a bachelor before, where did he find out something like that?!
