Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Initially, things went smoothly over here; although there was some resistance from the demon clans, it was quickly quelled. Those demon clans were either hunted down or driven away, and few stayed in the forests to resist.

However, over the past half-month, he had received over a dozen bad reports.

Initially, he didn’t pay much attention, but with the increasing number of reports, it became hard to ignore.

”So, we’ve lost over eight thousand Ghost Soldiers, and a hundred twenty thousand Blood Puppets in the past half-month?” Xing Nan asked after listening to the report, his face dark enough to drip water.

He commanded ten thousand Ghost Soldiers and three million Blood Puppets, a number that seemed large, but spread across the middle region of the Wanhua Mountain Range, it seemed quite sparse.

Just how vast was the middle region of the Wanhua Mountain Range? It stretched over thirty thousand li from north to south, and the widest part was nearly thirty thousand li wide, while the narrowest was over ten thousand li.

In such a vast region, only a little more than three million Ghost Soldier Blood Puppets existed; the rarity was quite apparent.

Blood Puppets were secondary, but Ghost Soldiers were crucial.

Losing eight thousand Ghost Soldiers equaled nearly one-tenth of their force, so it was no wonder Xing Nan was furious.

Yang Zhenshan guessed correctly; after a half-year of a war of attrition with the Wanhua Demon Emperor, the Unpredictable Ghost Sect’s casualties had reached a critical point.

The loss of hundreds of millions of Ghost Soldier Blood Puppets had made the Unpredictable Ghost Sect’s forces insufficient.

The main issue was the enormous territory the Unpredictable Ghost Sect had occupied.

From the Wanhua Mountain Range to the Yunxiao Mountain Range, such a large area required Ghost Soldier Blood Puppets to guard it; without sufficient forces, they couldn’t possibly defend such a vast territory.

Despite everyone fearing the Unpredictable Ghost Sect’s Ghost Soldier army now, once the Unpredictable Ghost Sect shows any weakness, countless people will emerge to seek revenge.

It’s impossible for ants to kill an elephant, and those forces who were slaughtered and driven away cannot threaten the Golden Core Cultivators. However, if the ants are numerous enough, they can still decimate the Ghost Soldier Blood Puppets.

The Ghost Sect’s Corpse Sea isn’t limitless; in fact, it’s nearing its limits now. If the attrition continues, the Unpredictable Ghost Sect may soon have to use its reserves, needing to deploy Ghost Soldiers that have been submerged in the Corpse Sea for thousands of years.

Should they deploy those Ghost Soldiers, it would indicate the Unpredictable Ghost Sect is at the end of its resources.

”It’s not just these; this is only the loss in the southeast. We’ve also lost two thousand Ghost Soldiers elsewhere!” The subordinate replied.

Currently, the Wanhua Mountain Range not only has Xuanzhen and Yue Yao but numerous other demon clans and various cultivators. Despite the Ghost Soldier army striving to eradicate these residual forces, clearing them completely in a short time is unachievable.

Xing Nan rubbed his temples wearily, ”Which force is the enemy in the southeast?”

”Not sure, they’re very secretive in their actions. Any encounter with them results in Ghost Soldier Blood Puppets disappearing silently. I suspect there might be Golden Core Cultivators or Demon Kings among them!”

”Golden Core Cultivators!” Xing Nan took a deep breath and said, ”Prepare to lure them out, I’ll deal with them personally!”

”Yes!”

Xing Nan acted quickly, sending a Ghost Soldier team to the southeast within a few days. This team seemed ordinary, with only over thirty Ghost Soldiers, three hundred Blood Puppets, and two disciples of the Unpredictable Ghost Sect leading them.

On the surface, it appeared to be just a regular sweep team.

However, in the Void, Xing Nan followed the team. The team was merely bait; Xing Nan’s goal was to lure out Xuanzhen and Yue Yao.

However, Xing Nan was unaware of their presence; rather, if only Xuanzhen were here, his plan would have no issues, but there was also Yue Yao here.

And their direction of march was exactly towards the base Yue Yao established.

Yue Yao’s base was a well-known place, Taoyuan Mountain, which originally belonged to the Dao Field of Zhongli Yue, with a settlement below housing the Ten Thousand Treasures Store.
