Bai Yaoyao’s alluring gaze revealed a hint of doubt as she raised her eyebrows. “It’s only for a while, and you’re already jealous? I’ve been keeping you company every day recently and haven’t had time to talk to them.”

“I’m not jealous. I feel happy when I see that you’re happy. But, seeing you care about other people still makes me a bit uncomfortable on the inside.” Duan Yanhao said in a serious tone, but his gaze was gentle.

Bai Yaoyao could not help but smile. “Why do I feel like you sound so sour about it? Seems like you ate preserved hawthorn.”

“I didn’t. Do you want to smell?” As he said that, Duan Yanhao leaned towards her lips.

Seeing his handsome face magnified in front of her made her feel that it was exceptionally charming.

Bai Yaoyao was the kind of person who would become shy if the other person was thick-skinned. If Duan Yanhao was as cold as an ice block, she might still be very bubbly and try to make him laugh.

Seeing Bai Yaoyao’s reddening face, Duan Yanhao caressed her head and said, “I know you’re tired today too. Sleep well.”

“Okay.”

When Bai Yaoyao was about to sleep, she stared at Duan Yanhao who was still beside her bed and was puzzled for a moment. “Didn’t you tell me to sleep early?”

“I’ll leave after you sleep.” Actually, Duan Yanhao had been too busy recently. He could only look at her at night during this time. He left too early in the morning, and Bai Yaoyao would usually not be awake at that time, so he really wanted to look at her for a longer time.

“Yanhao, you used to be so cold and aloof all the time. I never imagined that you would have this side.”

“Then am I better last time or now?”

Bai Yaoyao felt that he was definitely better now. He took the number one spot in her heart right now. He would only show this side of him in front of her too. However, she would not admit this.

Seeing the expectant look on Duan Yanhao’s face, Bai Yaoyao teased him. “I’m not telling you.”

Duan Yanhao flipped over and pressed Bai Yaoyao down as he gazed deeply at her. “You’re really not saying?”

Bai Yaoyao shut her eyes. She did not dare to look at that pair of deep, dark eyes. If she looked, she would feel that her heart was being swallowed whole by him.

However, even if she shut her eyes, she could feel his breathing on her face. It had a unique scent to it—a faint, musky scent.

Strangely enough, Duan Yanhao did not smell even when he sweat, despite being a soldier. He smelled clean, and there was even a musky scent to it.

It smelled exceptionally good. It made her yearn for his scent even if she did not want to admit it.

Feeling Bai Yaoyao in his arms, Duan Yanhao felt like he was losing control of himself. He lowered his head and planted a kiss on her lips as he said, “Yaoyao, even if you don’t say it, I know it too. Didn’t you say on the phone that I am the best?”

Bai Yaoyao opened her eyes suddenly and denied insistently. “You heard wrong.”

Seeing how shy Bai Yaoyao was, Duan Yanhao broke into a boisterous laughter.

When Old Master Duan came out, he walked past the corridor of the second floor and heard his grandson’s laughter. He was stunned for a moment. How many years had it been since his grandson had laughed so happily like this?

In his memory, Duan Yanhao had only laughed and played so happily when he was young. Afterwards, he became cold and aloof. Although he was very respectful towards him and treated Xinya well, this child’s heart seemed to have been frozen. He was born with good looks, but his stern demeanor made everyone who met him back away.

He had seen through things and understood that this child only had feelings for Bai Yaoyao. She was also the only person who could make him laugh so happily like this.

This was very good. He could still see his grandson being so happy about marrying his wife in his remaining years, so he was happy for him as well.

He was just waiting to carry a great-grandson in his arms now.
