Xie Limo’s gaze flickered as he turned to look at Yun Bixue. “How did you guess that it’s Majesty Kang controlling things behind the scenes?”

“This issue isn’t hard to guess. In the past, I only had suspicions, but now, I’m confident that it’s definitely Majesty Kang. Think about it. The noble families smuggled firearms, but only the Lu family was punished and ruined. It was done just to appease the public because the Yuan family is still fine and well. Logically speaking, shouldn’t the Yuan family be investigated too? But they weren’t. Only the imperial family had the power to cover up everything. Furthermore, the person who held the most power in the imperial family is Majesty Kang, so he was the one who had silently approved of the smuggling of firearms.”

Xie Limo looked at Yun Bixue in admiration. “Not bad. You analyzed it well.”

Yun Bixue turned to look at Xie Limo and said seriously, “Even if that’s the case, even with Majesty Kang backing them up, the Yuan family still has to be wiped out.”

Xie Limo agreed. “Since we have chosen to save Qin Huailing, the Yuan family has to be decimated. The underground tunnel is nearing completion, and the firearms had been sent in. Once the evidence is found, the Yuan family cannot escape from it. Even if Majesty Kang wanted to keep the Yuan family, he would not be able to fend against the storm of public discussion and debate.”

“Okay.”

…

Qin Huailing had been recuperating from his wounds in secret. Once he recovered, he intended to find Han Mubai personally and expose Yuan Shuangrui’s actions. However, according to Xie Limo, this was too abrupt. It was better to lie low and observe for now.

However, there was no news from Han Mubai at all. There was not even the slightest action from him even after sending him the blood letter written by Ding Guangwei.

It made people hard to decipher his thoughts.

The hatred in Qin Huailing’s heart was deep. He felt a little anxious as well. It was Xie Limo who suppressed his anxiety and told him that hastiness would not do him good, so it was better to maintain a slow but steady pace.

After the underground tunnel to the Yuan family was completed, the firearms that Huang Yize shipped over had quietly arrived in the capital as well. Xie Limo quickly let these people send the firearms into the Yuan family throughout the night.

Afterwards, they sealed the tunnel and let the secret guard stationed in the Yuan family take a few photos.

At that moment, Yuan Shuangrui had no idea what was happening underneath their house. Her mind was too preoccupied with thinking about Han Mubai.

Recently, Han Mubai had been neither cold nor warm towards her and did not really come and find her. She began to panic.

She thought of what her Grandma had said. She can use some feminine means.

Yuan Shuangrui sent her trusted aide to buy those drugs. She could use them to spike Han Mubai’s food or drink and take their relationship to the next level.

Once they got the drug, Yuan Shuangrui stared at it for the whole day. Her heart palpitated rapidly in anxiousness.

Although she felt hesitant, she knew that this had to be done. She could not grasp Han Mubai’s thoughts, so this matter could not be delayed.

Hence, Yuan Shuangrui found a chance and asked Han Mubai to meet at a hotel.

Han Mubai did not reject Yuan Shuangrui’s invitation. With regards to his marriage with Yuan Shuangrui, he did not intend to call it off because of other things either.

He wanted to continue to observe.

He, Han Mubai, could prevent Yuan Shuangrui from becoming the matriarch of the Han family if he suspected her.

However, he hated the idea of doing another person’s bidding. He saw the photo of the blood letter and all that was written on it, but he did not want to play into the hands of the other party’s ploy.

That was why there was no response from him even after so long.

In his mind, if Yuan Shuangrui continued to perform well, the marriage between the Han and Yuan families would still proceed.

Later, at the hotel, Yuan Shuangrui welcomed Han Mubai with a gentle smile. It was just like usual. She would ask about his well-being thoughtfully and show a perfect image of a lady.

Both of them talked about their families. When the conservation was flowing smoothly, Yuan Shuangrui finally asked, “Mubai, I will be twenty-three after the New Year. When are we going to get married?”
