Hearing Miao Zifu’s anxious tone, a warm smile appeared on Yun Bixue’s lips. “Yes, don’t worry. I won’t go anywhere alone, and I’ll get someone to protect me. Besides, I know how to defend myself. I’ll be on my guard, so you can rest assured. If you really can’t locate her, come back. It’s simply too tiring outside.”

Hearing Yun Bixue’s voice, Miao Zifu felt relieved. “Bixue, I’m fine and feeling pretty great now. This is also a good opportunity for me to take a look around the world and relax. I feel happier now, so you don’t have to worry about me, okay? You should take better care of yourself and stay safe.”

“Yes, don’t worry. I’m fine now. It’s already so late. Aren’t you sleeping?” Yun Bixue raised her head and looked at the clock hanging on the wall—it was already one in the morning.

Miao Zifu suddenly realized something and asked, “Bixue, did I interrupt something?”

Yun Bixue giggled. “It’s already one in the morning. You’re thinking too much.”

After ending the call, the smile on Yun Bixue’s face disappeared. Her expression turned rigid, as though she had a lot on her mind.

Xie Limo hugged her from behind. “Is something wrong?”

Yun Bixue shook her head and answered, “She’s just worried about my safety, that’s why she called.” Despite saying this, Yun Bixue felt insecure deep down, and she thought that this might have something to do with Chu Fei’er.

Miao Zifu was definitely worried that Chu Fei’er would do something.

She hadn’t thought much about it back then. However, thinking about it, it was highly likely for Chu Fei’er to do something at this crucial moment. Chu Fei’er was conveniently hiding in the dark while she was fully exposed. It was a simple battle for the former.

Although Yun Bixue didn’t say anything, Xie Limo understood deep down. He wrapped his arms around her shoulders and held her hand. “From now on, I will fetch you to and from work. I’ll also arrange for some guards to protect you secretly.”

Yun Bixue turned back and gently kissed Xie Limo’s chin. “You don’t have to be so nervous. I can protect myself too.”

“Although you told me not to feel nervous, you still have to listen to me regarding this.”

Yun Bixue noticed the unrelenting tone in Xie Limo’s words and couldn’t refute at all, so she decided that she should just listen to him.

“Okay, I’ll listen to my husband.”

Xie Limo pecked her lips, then said, “That’s my good girl. Go to sleep now. Don’t let your sleep get interrupted again, or you’ll feel sleepy during the day. Once you disrupt your body clock, it’ll be unhealthy for you.”

Yun Bixue nodded. The two of them laid down again to sleep, but Yun Bixue’s eyes were wide open—she couldn’t fall asleep.

In order not to make Xie Limo worried, Yun Bixue turned around. With her back facing him, she laid on the pillow and thought about many things.

Xie Limo understood Yun Bixue very well and knew that she wasn’t sleeping. He stayed awake too, and when he finally heard the quiet sounds of her breathing, he felt relieved enough to fall asleep.

From the next day onwards, Xie Limo personally sent her and picked her up from work.

He would even call her in the afternoon to check on her. He could only feel assured after hearing her voice.

Yun Bixue teased him. “Mr. Xie, you’re really treating me like a little porcelain doll. I can protect myself, alright?”

However, no matter how well he tried to protect her, there were also times when he let his guard down. That day, Xie Limo parked his car around ten meters away from the entrance of her office building.

When Yun Bixue walked out of the building, a woman ran towards her from the sidewalk—she was holding a knife.

Yun Bixue became alert immediately and was about to kick the woman away. However, another man approached her from the opposite side. Similarly, he was holding a knife and was about to stab Yun Bixue with it.
