Yun Bixue couldn’t find any more words to say, but she still wanted to listen to his voice. Sometimes, when she missed him, her heart would feel slightly better just after hearing his voice. “Hubby, erm… How are things over there?”

“I’m in the middle of working on it. After I settle them, I’ll return right away. I can’t pick you up after work, but Xie Qi and Xie Ba will do so. Stay safe, alright?”

Yun Bixue listened to Xie Limo’s nagging tone and leaned her cheek against her hand. She smiled sweetly and said, “I’m no longer a child. I know.”

Hearing Yun Bixue’s dismissive tone, Xie Limo replied seriously, “My wife, tell me, when have you not made my heart worry for you? You’re still taking things lightly.”

“Yes, don’t worry. I’ll listen to you and stay safe.”

“Also, be careful of Wang Qianjin. I’m worried that he’s still in Ning An City, although I haven’t been able to locate him.”

“Yes, I’ll be careful and stay alert. I’ll go home right after work, and I won’t wander around.”

Xie Limo answered in satisfaction, “That’s my obedient girl.”

After ending the call, Yun Bixue looked at her phone. Her heart still felt empty. She kept wanting to call him again and talk to him some more. This feeling was almost beyond her control as she tried to suppress it.

She shook her head vigorously and instructed Wang Man to pass all her work to her. She believed that by keeping herself occupied with work, she wouldn’t keep thinking about it.

…

Meanwhile, in Zi Bei City, Xie Limo looked at his phone and realized that there were about six missed calls—they were all from his wife hours ago. Earlier, he had switched his phone to silent mode. No wonder she called Xie Liu and sounded rather unhappy.

Thinking about how his wife’s eyes would glisten whenever she was angry, his heart grew soft as he browsed through her photos on his cell phone. After seeing her on those photos, his heart felt rather comforted.

He didn’t know how long he had been looking at them. After he heard knocking on the door, he then looked away from his phone and turned to face the door.

…

Three days later, Xie Limo finally returned to Ning An City after settling the matters in Zi Bei City.

He didn’t inform Yun Bixue of his schedule and thought of coming back to give her a surprise. In the end, he saw Yun Bixue sleeping on the sofa when he returned home.

It was five in the morning, and he knew that she had slept the entire night on the sofa.

At this sight, Xie Limo’s body emanated a cold aura. His gaze alone could almost freeze the air.

He walked slowly to the sofa and gently caressed Yun Bixue’s hair, his heart turning soft as it ached incredibly.

Yun Bixue felt someone beside her, and she opened her eyes in a daze. “I must be dreaming again,” she murmured in a groggy voice. After saying those words, she shut her eyes and continued sleeping.

Those few words pierced right through Xie Limo’s heart. His hands trembled, and his gaze was filled with intense tenderness as his heart ached for her. His brows were knitted tightly together as he sighed to himself. “What a silly girl. Always making my heart ache for her.”

Yun Bixue heard his voice and opened her eyes again. After rubbing her eyes with her hands, she asked, “Am I dreaming?”

Xie Limo lowered his head and planted a kiss above her eyes. “Of course not. Silly girl, I’m back.”

Yun Bixue immediately sat up and hugged Xie Limo around his neck. “For real? You’re back?” She really, really missed him, but she couldn’t put into words this feeling of yearning.

“Yes. If you don’t believe me, you can try pinching and see if you’re dreaming. You must be really groggy from your sleep.” Xie Limo’s voice was filled with so much indulgence and love.

Indeed, Yun Bixue reached out her fingers and pinched. Xie Limo gasped. This girl had pinched him instead!
