Chapter 984: Being Treated as an Experimental Object?

Gu Yang even saw an academician from Hua University’s Physics Department.

“Hello, everyone.”

Xiao Yize and everyone present were very respectful to this group of researchers.

Although they were not Mutants themselves, their contributions were more significant than those of most Mutants. The methods for developing Mutant abilities within their department were also devised by these scientists.

The academicians examined the data on the screen, exchanged glances, and nodded in excitement.

“Second Grandpa, what brings you here?” Lin Ran asked with a grin.

The leader, Academician Lin, was from the Lin family and was Lin Ran’s father’s second uncle.

Academician Lin glanced at Lin Ran and said, “We saw in the database that new SS-rank Mutants and an SSS-rank mental-type Mutant have appeared. Which two are they?”

Lin Ran gestured to Xiao Yize and said with a smile, “You’ll need to ask Young Master Xiao.”

“It’s my girlfriend and sister.”

Xiao Yize introduced Gu Jin and Gu Yang to the group. “Jin, Yangyang, this is Academician Lin from the Biology Department of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and this is Academician Li from the Physics Department…”

The ten individuals who had arrived were all top academicians from the Academy of Sciences, renowned for their significant contributions to China. They represented the pinnacle of scientific research talent in the country.

Gu Yang and Gu Jin greeted the academicians respectfully. “Hello, academicians.”

Before joining Hua University’s Physics Department, Gu Yang had been aware of their work, particularly the three academicians from the Physics Department, whom she greatly admired.

The academicians, known for their usually serious demeanor, smiled warmly and their eyes sparkled with excitement.

“Okay, good girls.”

“Which one of you is the SS-grade physical-type Mutant, and which one is the SSS-grade mental-type Mutant?”

Gu Jin’s eyelids twitched. The academicians’ eager gazes reminded her of researchers at the Yangning Research Institute examining a new pathology specimen—they seemed to view her and her sister as research subjects.

She stepped protectively in front of Gu Yang, her expression as cold and guarded as ever. “I’m the SS-grade Mutant. My sister is the SSS-grade hypnotist.”

The academicians exchanged excited glances and turned their attention to Gu Yang.

Academician Lin managed a strained smile, his usually stern face softened but still somewhat intimidating. He addressed Xiao Yize, “Yize, I heard from your grandfather that you found your sister. This is her, correct?”

Even Xiao Yize was taken aback by Academician Lin’s smile. “Grandpa Lin, please don’t smile like that. My sister is a bit scared.”

Gu Yang thought, “I’m not scared, don’t exaggerate.”

Academician Lin looked at Gu Yang with a mix of tension and joy. He could hardly contain his excitement. “This is the first time we’ve discovered a living SSS-class Mutant, and a hypnotist at that. We’ve never had any experimental data on an SSS-class hypnotist before.”

Academician Li turned to Gu Jin. “There isn’t much experimental data on SS-grade Mutants; Yize’s is the only one.”

Gu Yang looked puzzled. Was she being treated as an experimental subject?

Various research scenarios flashed through her mind.

Gu Jin frowned and shot a cold look at Xiao Yize. He had not mentioned this situation before they arrived.

Xiao Yize was caught off guard by the academicians’ enthusiasm. He cleared his throat and addressed Academician Lin, “Grandpa Lin, my sister and girlfriend aren’t from the Mutant Department.”

Academician Lin, still eager, urged, “Then what are we waiting for? We need to start the admission procedures immediately!”

Xiao Yize was keen to proceed, but he knew Gu Jin wasn’t comfortable with the idea of being restricted by the department. He said tactfully, “My sister and girlfriend are top students at Hua University’s Physics Department. They scored full marks on the College Entrance Examination last year.”

“They’re committed to their studies and contributing to the country like you all, so they may not want to join the Mutant Department.”

Gu Yang sighed inwardly. Despite Xiao Yize’s sharp tongue, his emotional intelligence was impressive.
