Reborn in the 80s: The Smart Wife with a Secret Space

Chapter 162: Chapter 162: After Waiting Most of My Life, Was It Worth It?

He reached out and picked up an apricot: ”From now on, don’t call me Commander, I’ve retired.”

Su Jingsong felt unsettled: ”Commander, in my heart, you will always be my Commander.”

Han Jingchen looked at the apricot: ”From now on, call me Mr. Han.”

Su Jingsong felt very uncomfortable but still responded, ”Alright.”

Han Jingchen took the plate from his hand and placed it on the table: ”You go ahead and get busy, I’m fine here.”

His leg ailment had flared up again, making him unfit to stay in the military. He had to leave the place he had dedicated half his life to, because he still had concerns about his wife and daughter, and needed to take care of his health.

Han Chunxue suddenly spoke: ”Second Brother, you’ve been searching and waiting for half your life, is it worth it?”

Han Jingchen heard his sister’s question and replied firmly: ”It’s worth it. I believe that one day we can meet again.”

Han Chunxue’s eyes were a bit teary, she felt sorry for her Second Brother, yet she also somewhat envied her Second Sister-in-law, Gu Wanqing. The feelings Second Brother had for Second Sister-in-law had been unwavering for decades, never diminished by time.

A few years ago, there were so many young ladies wanting to marry Second Brother, but Second Brother only said that he had a wife and daughter, stubbornly guarding that feeling all alone.

She wasn’t very familiar with Second Sister-in-law Gu Wanqing either; when Second Brother and Second Sister-in-law got married, they only stayed at home for a few days, then they left together.

She knew her sister-in-law had given birth to her niece, but before they could meet her, they received news of trouble at her sister-in-law’s maternal home, and later got news of her sister-in-law and niece’s disappearance.

During that time, Second Brother was so thin he barely looked like himself, the family was very worried, it took a long time for him to finally come through it, yet he never let go of his yearning for his wife and daughter.

Han Jingchen looked at his sister: ”If there’s nothing else, head back early, it’s quite far from here.”

Han Chunxue remembered her purpose for coming and said: ”Second Brother, did Chunli ask to borrow money from you again?”

Han Jingchen did not hide it, nodded to her: ”Yes.”

Han Chunxue was irritated: ”Second Brother, the money she’s borrowed from you all these years, hasn’t she never paid it back? You should be more mindful yourself.”

Han Jingchen nodded cooperatively, ”I know.”

Han Chunxue saw his attitude and couldn’t help but say: ”She probably never thought about repaying it. Second Brother, I’m not trying to drive a wedge between your relationships, but you can’t keep indulging her.”

Han Jingchen knew his sister too well: ”Did you hear something?”

She couldn’t tell Second Brother exactly, but not saying anything worried her that Second Brother would be tricked by the younger sister, Han Chunxue was visibly conflicted.

Han Jingchen saw her expression, chuckled lightly: ”Don’t worry, I’ve got it under control.”

Han Chunxue felt relieved hearing this from Second Brother: ”Alright, since you understand her intentions, have a plan ready. Little Sister has indeed been too overbearing these years, expecting us all to let her have her way, she’s been getting more and more out of hand.”

Han Jingchen thought of something: ”Zhenjun is about to start his own family soon, you have your own life to live. In the future, you don’t have to always cater to her.”

Hearing this from Second Brother, Han Chunxue knew what to do.

Previously, due to their father’s dying wishes, she didn’t want to go against them, and was afraid Big Brother and Second Brother would think she was too petty, so as long as Han Chunli wasn’t overly outrageous, she wouldn’t say anything.

Now seeing Second Brother’s attitude, it seems Chunli has also annoyed Second Brother, with him no longer shielding her, it’ll be interesting to see what happens next.
