Genius Club

“But I heard early on that Big Face Cat’s father, Chen Heping, was recognized as a genius and the most respected by The Godfather. If it weren’t for his untimely death due to health issues, the current Godfather would definitely have been Chen Heping.”

“For such an extraordinary talent, why did he have a child like Big Face Cat who’s, well… not very bright?”

Lin Xian pondered for a moment:

“Regression Towards the Mean.”

He explained:

“This term in genetics means that the children of any parents with superior genes will gradually return to an average in all aspects.”

“This amazing mechanism also ensures the continuation of human civilization without disruption or segregation. Without regression towards the mean, then children of excellent parents would be even more outstanding, and those children would find partners of the same caliber, resulting in even more outstanding offspring…”

“Over generations, the most outstanding group of people on Earth and the least capable would not even be of the same species, worlds apart.”

“In reality, the children of Olympic champions rarely continue to win championships, the children of artists rarely possess a genius transcending their era, Einstein’s children didn’t become scientists, and even the basketball god Jordan’s son didn’t make it into the NBA…”

“It’s precisely because of this regression towards the mean that balance and harmony are maintained among humans as a group, which in a way, can be considered fairness.”
