Genius Club

Chapter 1048: Chapter 2 Seeing the Future (Added for Alliance Leader sfqk!)_4

“To do what ordinary people cannot, to dare what ordinary people do not even dare to think… That is what truly defines a genius.”

…

It must be said.

Lin Xian now profoundly understands why so many times before, others had rudely interrupted Gauss’s speech.

He once felt sympathy for poor Gauss.

But now.

He truly understands.

Understands all too well!

Because the other person spoke so slowly, as if at fifth of the normal speed… Listening made one anxious, desperately wanting to spur him on to hasten the pace.

However, there was no helping it.

After all, it was Gauss’s turn, and he had to endure the mental and auditory discomfort to listen to the entire speech.

Then.

Einstein held out his hand, signaling for Lin Xian to speak:

“No.9, Rhein… Since Tesla and Turing are not present, we cannot make decisions on their behalf. Even if those of us here know their past answers, who can guarantee that their thoughts and beliefs would not change?”

“So, let’s skip them for this time’s welcoming session. Now, it’s your turn to answer.”

“We are all curious, the last genius… what is your answer? What do you think is the most important quality a genius should possess?”

In an instant.

All eyes were focused on Lin Xian.

Lin Xian exhaled through his nose.

And voiced the answer he had long wanted to articulate:

“Actually…until today, I had not considered this question, and had no ideas in my mind.”

He spoke truthfully:

“However, having listened to everyone’s presentations just now, I’m honored to have suddenly found my own answer.”

He smiled:

“I am quite puzzled why everyone, when pondering this question, always assumes an air of arrogance, as if all above the world, as if each one of you is a god, a creator, a deity.”

“However… isn’t it true that even as geniuses, in the end, we are all still human beings? Apart from being more intelligent, in terms of physical body or brain structure, there is no difference between so-called geniuses and ordinary people.”

“So, are geniuses necessary? Do geniuses truly have the right to dictate human history and future?”

“[Without the existence of geniuses, would humanity have no history?]”

“[Without the intervention of geniuses, would humanity have no future?]”

“I rather believe… that possibly a history without any intervention from geniuses is the best history; similarly, a future without any intervention from geniuses… is the true, purest, most beautiful future that belongs to human civilization!”

“This is my answer.”

“I believe that the most fundamental quality a genius should possess is—”

“[Respect].”

Lin Xian looked around and continued:

“Respect for others, respect for history, respect for humanity, respect for the future.”

“Perhaps so-called geniuses are not as great as imagined. Letting go of the future everyone desires in their eyes and entrusting it completely to humanity itself might not fail to bring about a better future.”

…

Lin Xian’s answer concluded.

No one spoke.

Only Einstein emitted a soft chuckle:

“Well said, Rhein. But… this is the first lesson you will learn here, and the reason why the Genius Club exists—”

“Humanity, in itself, has no future.”

Lin Xian looked at him:

“Why are you so sure?”

Einstein’s voice was hoarse:

“Because… I can see the future.”

See the future?

Lin Xian narrowed his eyes.

Just this statement!

The same as what Turing said back then!

The leader of the Club can indeed see the future!

This also confirmed Lin Xian’s previous thought, no wonder the Genius Club President, able to command such respect; if he really could see the actual future, he indeed had the power and qualification!

However.

Lin Xian was extremely curious.

He, Genius Club President, the man wearing the Einstein Mask…

What kind of future had he seen?

The same as himself?

Also through dreaming?

He asked directly:

“What kind of future can you see?”

“Is it the future of a specific day? Decades, centuries, millennia later? Or is it… a phase of the future?”

The man with the Einstein Mask sat up straight in the dark wooden chair:

“[All of it].”

That word was crisp and shocking.

The elder smiled slightly, his voice hoarse:

“Every day from now, every moment, every minute, every second… I can see.”

“I can see…”

“[All futures]!”
