Peasant Woman’s Decreed Life as a Wife

Chapter 1211: Chapter 1208: Mother and Son Turn Against Each Other

Amidst the dispute of the Deputy Generals at court, Luo Zhisheng and Zhong Shan were eventually appointed to go.

Chu Heng was named chief commander in charge of this military grain transport, which also sparked debates within the court.

No one knew what he wrote in his petition, but in the end, Emperor Xuanming agreed and affirmed his status on the spot.

During this time, Ye Muyu was at home with Madam Liu, making shoes and clothing for Chu Heng, as well as preparing other necessities for the journey.

“Lady, the master has returned,” a maid’s voice just reached her when she heard footsteps. Ye Muyu looked up, needle and thread still in hand, and saw Chu Heng’s figure. She quickly got up to greet him, “You’re back, you should rest first.”

Chu Heng’s gaze lingered on her face, and he planted a light yet very solemn kiss on her forehead.

His voice was hoarse, “Ah Yu, I’m setting off in half an hour.”

Ye Muyu’s hand trembled slightly, and when she looked up again, her face had regained its usual composure, “Alright, I have packed all the clothes I prepared for you.”

“See if there’s anything I’ve missed.”

“Keep this dagger and medicine safe,” Ye Muyu gripped his hand tightly, her voice muffled.

Chu Heng’s eyes reddened, and he pulled her into his arms; the impact made Ye Muyu’s nose tingle, tears fell plop-plop against his chest.

“Ah Yu, don’t cry,” Chu Heng’s hands frantically moved to wipe her tears.

Ye Muyu buried her face in his chest, not looking up, holding him tightly, wishing time could stop in that moment.

But time still slipped away, and Chu Heng lifted her face, kissing her eyes, the tip of her nose, and finally placing a deep kiss as if using all his strength.

The close contact made Ye Muyu’s body tremble, and she couldn’t help but let the tears slide down again.

The man’s warm breath sprayed on her face. They locked eyes, her vision blurred with tears, feeling every kiss from him deeply.

“Ah Yu, wait for me to return.”

Chu Heng donned his armor, took all the items Ye Muyu had carefully prepared for him, and left quietly.

He didn’t inform the elders, unaware that after he left, a discreet carriage had been silently parked at the city gate, inside which sat his parents, Madam Liu and her husband, who had come to secretly see their son off.

Once Chu Heng left, Ye Muyu fell into a state of listlessness for a while before gradually recovering upon hearing news from the Princess’ Mansion in the capital.

“Lady, can the Little Prince’s clamor to separate from Her Highness the Elder Princess be successful?”

Indeed, the matter was related to the Princess’ Mansion.

The Little Prince, Huo Zixing, who had been confined by the Elder Princess to a Manor outside the city, had caused an uproar with the Princess’ Mansion.

He wanted to move back to the Huo family house, not stay in the Princess’ Mansion.

The reason was that Aunt Qiao was pregnant again, and during their absence from the mansion, the illegitimate child Huoling Cheng fell ill with no one to care for him and nearly died.

Instantly, the relationship between Huo Zixing and the Elder Princess plunged to an icy low.

“Is there anything suspicious about this affair?” Ye Muyu couldn’t help asking.

Su Mei shook her head: “The servant girl couldn’t find out much, only that yesterday the Little Prince had an argument with Her Highness the Elder Princess, after which Her Highness said that if the Little Prince dared to leave the mansion, he should never come back.”

“As a result, the Little Prince stormed out of the Princess’ Mansion on the spot, taking Aunt Qiao and his eldest son Huoling Cheng with him, and they have already moved to the Huo family’s residence.”

The Huo family had long been divided, but having once produced an emperor’s son-in-law, they still had sufficient property.

However, now that the issue had escalated to this extent, the relationship between mother and son had become a farce in the capital.

Huo Zixing and the Elder Princess were both summoned to the palace.
