Peasant Woman’s Decreed Life as a Wife

Chapter 1130: Chapter 1127: Entering the Capital

Physician-in-Chief Lu initially thought that the treatment was being exaggerated by outsiders and was prepared to work with the imperial physicians to help Lu Sangqi correct the prescription.

Little did he know that the prescription his grandson had given actually could cure the epidemic.

The imperial physicians found themselves without a role, just like regular doctors, assisting with prescribing medicine based on the severity of the patients’ conditions.

Chu Heng recovered quickly.

On King Qi’s side, Physician-in-Chief Lu was personally summoned to diagnose King Qi, who gradually recovered as well.

Ye Muyu did not fall ill, and after being allowed to leave, she simply volunteered to help wherever assistance was needed.

...
So much so that every day after Chu Heng finished his duties at the county government, he would deliberately walk the streets and often see her among the crowds of displaced people.

“My lord, the lady’s companions are all skilled in martial arts,” Lu Chuan softly reminded.

Chu Heng hummed in acknowledgment, “Send two more skilled women to be by her side.”

“Yes,” Lu Chuan said with a suppressed smile.

The epidemic in South State ended completely by the end of September.

An Imperial Decree was sent directly to South State, summoning King Qi, Chu Heng, and others to return to the capital for an audience.

When Ye Muyu returned home, she first wrote a letter to her family in her old home, then instructed Steward Luo to stay behind to take care of the manor, workshop, and stores and attend to business, and to head to the capital once everything was settled.

She, along with her two children and valuables, accompanied Chu Heng to the capital.

Xiang Ling’er, heavily pregnant, stayed in Yuzhou to give birth this month, and Du Heng had already returned. He had been a great help this time, and Chu Heng had commended him for his merits in a memorandum.

Unless something unforeseen occurred, the Du families would receive rewards as well.

“Sister-in-law, take care on your journey. Once I expand my caravan to the capital, I’ll bring Xiang Ling’er and the child to visit you,” Du Heng said with a smile outside the carriage.

Xiang Ling’er was quite far along in her pregnancy and leaned against Du Heng, feeling reluctant to part with Ye Muyu.

“Alright, you should go back and rest. Just stay in our residence. Steward Luo is still there, which is convenient. After Xiang Ling’er has safely given birth and gone through her confinement period, it won’t be too late to go back,” Ye Muyu said.

With a suppressed smile, Du Heng replied, “Alright.”

The Zhao family had already returned to the capital, and there weren’t many relatives left at this point, so the carriage quickly set off.

The two children sat in the back, while Ye Muyu sat in the front carriage and Chu Heng rode a horse beside them.

Upon leaving the city, they joined up with the carriage procession of King Qi and others.

All the officials from Yuzhou were present, and Prefect Guo, with his subordinates, came to see everyone off.

Lu Sangqi rode in a carriage with Physician-in-Chief Lu.

The journey to the capital, swaying and leisurely, took a full twenty-odd days.

Upon seeing the grand gates of the capital, Ye Muyu could not help but exclaim at their splendor.

With King Qi’s carriage leading the way, there were no hindrances, and the journey through was unhindered.

After entering the city, Chu Heng first went to bid farewell to King Qi.

He then took his wife and children to stay in a small courtyard he had previously arranged in the capital.

“Ah Yu, the courtyard is quite small, we’ll just live here temporarily. In a couple of months, we’ll be able to buy a new house,” Chu Heng stood at the entrance of the house, feeling for the first time that it was too small.

If it hadn’t been for spending all his silver on medicinal herbs, he would not have had to make his wife and children endure such modest accommodations.

Jumping down from the carriage, Ye Muyu smiled lightly, “Houses in the capital are worth their weight in gold; this small courtyard is already expensive. As long as we have a place to live, it’s fine. I don’t have extravagant demands, and you shouldn’t mind it in your heart either.”

“Besides, when we were in the countryside before, we could live there too. As long as it’s habitable, it’s okay. I don’t have so many demands,” Ye Muyu called for Su Mei and the maidservants to move the luggage in.

This time, she hadn’t brought too much luggage.
