Chapter 986: Not Used To It

Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation

When Ye Muyu and Madam Zhou learned that a eunuch from the capital had come to the county, the former was a little surprised, while the latter was shocked.

However, Eunuch Ren did not call the women over, and Madam Qi did not dare to go over either. She only hurriedly called the advisor and butler to serve him carefully.

Ye Muyu did not make a move either. The rules were the most strict in Jing City. She only called Chunqin and passed her a message to inform the other party of her existence. She also said that she would not disturb his rest and would only greet him together with Chu Heng when he returned.

She continued to arrange for people to buy plums.

Chu Heng and County Magistrate Qi came back earlier today.

The two of them had just returned to the county when the bailiff at the gate came up to them. “Lord Chu, Lord Qi, a eunuch has come to the capital. He says he’s looking for Lord Chu.”

County Magistrate Qi was shocked. His face turned pale and he subconsciously looked at Chu Heng.

“It’s nothing. I forgot to tell you. Previously, the emperor sent a eunuch to deal with the flood with me. I think it’s Eunuch Ren.”

County Magistrate Qi was even more unsettled when he heard this. He had originally suspected that Chu Heng would be targeted, but now he did not think so. The eunuch sent by the emperor was said to be accompanying him, but he was actually monitoring him.

As long as something happened during this period, this eunuch would be able to send the news to the emperor.

The current Emperor Mingzong loved talented people the most. If Chu Heng was truly talented and capable, with this eunuch around, even if the foreign officials of Yuzhou wanted to make things difficult for Chu Heng, they would have to take great risks.

In short, Eunuch Ren was the emperor’s eyes and also Chu Heng’s assistant. This further showed how much importance the Emperor placed on the flood.

County Magistrate Qi had a lot of thoughts in his mind. When he entered the county office and saw Eunuch Ren sitting on a chair beside him, he became even more nervous and hurriedly bowed.

Chu Heng also bowed. “Eunuch Ren, did anything happen on the way?”

“It was also you who saved my life. If you hadn’t asked me to set off later, I’m afraid that something would have happened to me like you.”

“It’s because you have good luck, Eunuch Ren.”

“Alright, let’s not talk about this. I’ve already rested for a while. You guys continue working. I can just listen. Don’t worry about me.”

Eunuch Ren was the emperor’s trusted aide, so he naturally prioritized serious matters.

“Eunuch Ren, look, we just came back from the river below. We are dirty. You must have had a hard time traveling. Why don’t you have a meal first? County Magistrate Qi and I will come over after changing our clothes.”

“Heh, who knew that there would be times when Lord Chu isn’t dressed tidily.” After Eunuch Ren teased them, he did not make things difficult for them. He called them down to wash up. He was indeed a little hungry, so he went to the front hall to eat.

Ye Muyu received the news when Chu Heng came back. She stood at the door, waiting for Chu Heng to come over. Seeing that he was covered in dirt again, she felt relieved.

“I heard that a eunuch from the palace came?” Ye Muyu walked to his side and asked curiously.

“There’s hot water in the bathroom. You can go and wash up.” Ye Muyu followed him into the bathroom.

Chu Heng subconsciously placed his hand on his belt and was about to take off his clothes when he realized that she was there.

Ye Muyu ran to his side and took off his clothes. “Why are you looking at me? I’ll talk to you when you’re bathing. You’re a man, so why don’t you let your wife look at you?”

“I’m just not used to it.” Chu Heng’s thin lips moved.

“You’ll get used to it after a few times,” Ye Muyu said righteously.

While Chu Heng was hesitating, Ye Muyu had already taken off his outer robe.
