”How’s your dad’s company doing?” Tang Qing changed the topic.

”It’s going pretty well. Everything’s on track. The few buildings under construction are already three stories high. Plus, over forty percent of the properties are sold, and I believe they’ll all be sold out in another month or so.” Wang Yan responded while stroking her hair and laughing.

”That’s great. Your uncle’s money is as good as made.” Tang Qing chuckled. This project would likely be the turning point in Wang Yan’s father’s career, eventually leading him to a business valued at ten billion RMB. In Tang Qing’s past life, it was an unapproachable existence, but now, it was all within his reach. What an unpredictable drama life was.

”Oh, and what about your company?” Wang Yan asked.

”It’s going well too. The first branch store in Province City is now open for business and things are looking promising. Other branches throughout the province would be operational within this month.” Tang Qing replied.

”That’s very good news. From now on, I’ll only wear clothes from your company.” Wang Yan said, beaming.

”Sure, why not? Someone like you, with your image, could easily be our company’s brand ambassador.” Tang Qing responded. Wang Yan had an appealing image that, once made-over, would surely captivate people.

”Really? But your company should already have a spokesperson, right?” asked Wang Yan, her eyes sparkling.

”Yes, it’s the lead actress from a popular TV series this year.” Tang Qing nodded.

”Is the endorsement fee expensive?” Wang Yan asked curiously.

”I think it’s about two million RMB, and the contract lasts for only a year.” Tang Qing recalled.

”That sounds expensive! I would be happy if I had five hundred thousand a year.” Wang Yan said in amazement.

”Sure, we can sign a contract with you once hers expires. Aren’t you planning to become a celebrity? I can sponsor your rise to stardom this year or the next.” Tang Qing laughed. His logic was simple - sponsor Wang Yan’s rise to fame, and then replace the existing spokesperson with her. This way, no one inside Sheng Tang would have anything to say about it.

”But I like singing, not acting.” Wang Yan corrected. She could negotiate with her dad about her singing career, but he would never allow her to act.

”Then, I’ll produce an album for you.” Tang Qing replied. Actually, he preferred that Wang Yan did not go into acting either. It was a grueling and potentially dangerous endeavor. He had a taste of the exhausting life of an actor when he used to do extras at Hengdian. The hardship was astonishing, and the danger was not from hidden rules in the industry but from dangerous wirework and props used in filming. Even if someone guaranteed the safety, he would never want Wang Yan to try it.

”Remember, you said it.” Wang Yan said, staring at Tang Qing seriously.

”Of course, it’s something I said. It stands.” Tang Qing laughed.

”Hehe, that’s great. I’ll tell my dad about this when I go home today. Before when I said it to him, he thought I wouldn’t make it. Now that I have someone to back me up, let’s see what he’s got to say.” Wang Yan said happily.

”...”

Tang Qing had a feeling that Wang Yan’s father won’t take the news happily. However, since he had made a promise and seeing how happy Wang Yan was, he didn’t have the heart to go back on his word. Besides, he had already promised to support Wang Yan’s music career.

He believed that her father would slowly understand and support them, and with his quiet efforts to ensure her well-being, there would be no need to worry about who would dare to take advantage of her in the entertainment circle.

He considered this support to be a way to make up for his guilt toward Wang Yan in his previous life. After all, she chose to abandon her dreams and pride, pine after him for so long, only for him to break her heart. This was his atonement.
