His face lost color, turning ferocious as he said with his sinister, squinty eyes, “Do you know where you are? Daring to break in? Enna Clark finally acknowledged him, her clear eyes indifferent; her lips barely touched as she asked, “Who exactly is ‘upstairs’ for you?”

“My ‘upstairs’ has…” The man almost blurted out too much, luckily he caught himself before spilling the beans and said with rage and embarrassment, “Are you trying to trick me into talking?!”

The man instinctively wanted to retort with something dirty, but then his eyes inadvertently caught sight of the gun in Enna Clark’s hand. The words reached his lips but were then swallowed back down. His face, already dark, turned a red so deep it was almost black, his mouth opened and closed several times without the courage to speak.
