”Have some water.” Lu Feiyun handed a cup of water to Qi Taiguo.

Qi Taiguo took it, drank it all in one gulp, and smiled, ”Thanks!”

”I’m a soldier!”

The two glared at each other and suddenly burst into laughter.

Lu Feiyun held her teacup, leaning against the table behind her, listening to the distant artillery fire, and said, ”With this evacuation, is your unit going back as well?”

The bacterial warfare on the other side has been well controlled. Although not completely cured, at least it is under control.

Both the medical team and the army have been here for half a year and can be rotated back with the evacuation, making way for another batch to take over.

”What about you?” Qi Taiguo asked her.

Lu Feiyun said, ”I have already reported to the higher-ups that I’m not going back for now.”

”You’re crazy!” Qi Taiguo frowned, ”They’re considered barbarians. Do you actually want to treat them?”

”That’s exactly what I want.” Lu Feiyun said, ”Besides, they’re not barbarians, they’re people. And I am a doctor!”

”Doctor Lu, I know your ideals are great, but it’s not realistic. Also, look, the war isn’t over yet, the big cities are still in chaos. How many supplies do you think will reach remote areas? What about medicine?” Qi Taiguo said, ”Without medicine, how will you treat them? It would just be a futile effort!”

Lu Feiyun gave a bitter smile, ”You’re right, but how will we know if it will work if we don’t try? There has to be a way eventually!”

This woman was really stubborn!

Qi Taiguo greatly disagreed, ”I don’t agree. Having ideals is good, but without life, any ideal is just empty talk! Go back first, and then later...”

”Battalion Commander Qi, did you think about the day you’d go back when you came?”

”But compared to a peaceful and prosperous place, isn’t this place where I’m needed more?” Lu Feiyun smiled.

Qi Taiguo remained silent; he didn’t know what to say because everything she said was right.
