After putting down the phone, Cheng Su was momentarily stunned. The content of Ning Ge’s call was indeed surprising to her, though perhaps not entirely unexpected. Since Chiang Qing had taken action, this day was inevitable.

She just didn’t think the Shen Family would show Chiang Qing no face at all, even to the point of arranging a visit to a black clinic for the abortion.

Black clinics, Cheng Su thought of those hidden in back alleys, created for people too poor to afford hospital visits, or for those who, for fear of shame, secretly came to end their pregnancies. Many ended in massive hemorrhaging or even death because of inadequate techniques.

It’s also her fortune she didn’t lose her life there.

She really didn’t know what to say about her, holding such good cards and still playing them so terribly.

”What did my godfather say?” Qi Xiaoqi shook her hand.

Cheng Su hugged him and said, ”That woman Chiang Qing is finished. No, she’s half-finished.”

Qi Xiaoqi said, ”Explain clearly.”

”Hey, what does a child need to know so much for?” Under Qi Xiaoqi’s half-smiling gaze, Cheng Su awkwardly scratched her nose and said, ”It’s just like that, uh...”

She briefly explained Chiang Qing’s situation. Qi Xiaoqi’s expressionless face remained unchanged until Cheng Su finished. Then he said, ”The Shen Family isn’t that great of a deal, is it? A woman has been cheating for so long, even having a bastard, and they only realize it now. She was abducted while completely defenseless. Tsk, tsk, really useless!”

Cheng Su’s mouth twitched.

”Whether they’re useless or not, it’s none of our business...”

”How is it ’none of our business’?” Qi Xiaoqi interrupted her. ”The Shen Family’s incompetence has let this mad dog slip the leash and run off. Now we can’t even find her. This world is so big; who knows which corner she’s hiding in? If she lies low her whole life, then fine. But with her personality, will she be willing to stay hidden? Hard to say! If she shows up, targets the Shen Family, then she will settle her scores with them for any grievances or grudges. But if her head’s not on straight and she targets the wrong people, we could end up as scapegoats or dead meat!”

”Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey, what scapegoat, what ominous talk is that? We’ll live long and safe lives.” Cheng Su pinched his little mouth.

Qi Xiaoqi brushed her hand away and said, ”Anyway, that’s how the situation strings along. As long as Chiang Qing doesn’t come looking for us, everything will be fine. If she does, then it’s thanks to the Shen Family. Totally useless, can’t even keep a dog on a leash, and harms innocent people!”

Cheng Su looked at her son, seeing his eyebrows furrowed into waves, and couldn’t help but feel amused. If outsiders or the Shen Family heard Qi Xiaoqi talking like this, they might just jump into the sea in anger!

But his analysis did have some merit. To handle things so incompetently that someone was able to escape, yes, quite incompetent indeed!

”According to you, how should we handle this?” Cheng Su asked, testing him.

Qi Xiaoqi said, ”Let godfather put some pressure on the Shen Family. Make the issue big enough that they have no choice but to find her. Isn’t the Shen Family rich? Offer a reward, for there’s bound to be brave people under a high price who can find her. Might as well say that they caused Old Master of the Shen Family to escape. After all, isn’t that old man lying in the hospital?”

Cheng Su was stunned, looking at him as if he was a creature.

”What?” Qi Xiaoqi wiped his face.

”How does your brain work?” Cheng Su pointed at his head.

Qi Xiaoqi rolled his eyes and continued reading.

”By the way, your godfather said that for the sake of caution, he’ll send someone to our place to protect you,” Cheng Su added.
