”I’m here to settle scores in the autumn with you,” Ning Ge sneered coldly, ”Each of you, watching me hit a wall, watching me bang my head, enjoying the show happily?”

”Well, I was just taking Cheng Su’s lead. She didn’t let me say anything.” Cheng Yaozu immediately threw Cheng Su under the bus.

Cheng Su glared at him fiercely, then squeezed out a smile and said to Ning Ge, ”I, it was a matter of integrity. If I told you, even if you two ended up together later, Song Jiaying would definitely think I was untrustworthy. How could we interact genuinely afterward? I figured, you know, the Capital is your turf, both your families have some status, you would sense something was amiss eventually, and she couldn’t hide forever. So, I didn’t say anything!”

”Just keep bluffing!” Ning Ge snorted.

Cheng Su hurriedly said, ”I’m not bluffing, I really thought it through. You see, the Song family has a reputation to maintain. Given the Ning Family’s current momentum, wouldn’t they want to form an alliance? Although Song Jiaying is currently being stubborn, the Song family won’t let her stay that way forever.”

”You haven’t witnessed how stubborn she is!” Ning Ge’s tone softened. ”She doesn’t let me anywhere near the mother and son, like a mother beast, and won’t even let me see my son!” As he spoke, he felt a wave of grievance; he had a part in this son, so why couldn’t he see him? Not even allowed to hold him.

”If you act like you’re going to snatch the child, of course, she’d be on guard against you.” Cheng Su rolled her eyes.

Ning Ge glared at her.

”Cheng Su’s right. For now, you have to sweet-talk her, treat her like a queen, put in more effort, and get her to let her guard down first,” Cheng Yaozu added, ”Women, after all, are always soft-hearted. See how I pursued my wife back then? I acted shamelessly, like a deadbeat, almost to the point of kneeling to lick her shoes before I got her. Old Ning, for now, don’t think about the child. Once you’ve settled the bigger issue, the little one will be easily sorted out.”
