The last yellow leaf of late autumn fell, and with it came the cold winter. After the first snowfall in Qing City, Cheng Su welcomed Little Yu, who had successfully turned her bun shop into a thriving business, at her home.

With her own business and comfortable life, Little Yu no longer had the self-pitying and lonely look from the past. Instead, she now wore a spirited and savvy expression.

She was dressed in black dress pants and black leather shoes, with a fitted red down jacket on top. Her hair was cut short, giving her a sharp and neat look, making her appear much younger than before.

Little Yu brought a toy car as a gift for Qi Xiaoqi. Seeing that she came to discuss business with Cheng Su, Father Qi tactfully took Qi Xiaoqi out to play in the courtyard and didn’t forget to take his wife along.

”... Honestly, it’s remarkable how someone’s demeanor changes when they have money. When she came here a few years ago, she seemed so down and out, but now she looks like a wealthy lady!” On their way down the stairs, Mother Qi said to Father Qi.

”She earned it through early mornings and late nights.” Father Qi carefully carried Qi Xiaoqi down the stairs.

”Grandpa, put me down, I can walk myself!” Qi Xiaoqi said in a crisp voice as he watched his grandfather mind the steps.

”How will you walk? Grandpa will carry you!”

”Just hold my hand, that’s enough!” Qi Xiaoqi insisted.

Seeing his request, Father Qi chuckled and agreed, setting him down and holding his hand to help him down the stairs, saying, ”If you get tired of walking, just let me know, Grandpa can still carry you!”

”Okay, thank you, Grandpa!” Qi Xiaoqi looked up and flashed a sweet smile.

Watching this, Mother Qi felt slightly bitter, as her grandson had never been so amiable towards her. She looked away and remarked, ”If it wasn’t for Cheng Su’s help, how could she have opened that shop?”

”That’s investment, not help. She has the skills, otherwise, do you think you can just invest a little money and make the business thrive? Cheng Su doesn’t even manage it; it’s all up to her own efforts.” Father Qi gave her a sidelong glance and said, ”Alright, stop talking about it, focus on walking!” With that, he ceased the topic and chatted amiably with Qi Xiaoqi as they descended.

Mother Qi was frustrated.

Upstairs, Cheng Su poured Little Yu some hot tea and pushed a plate of pastries from her own restaurant towards her, asking, ”It’s not even New Year’s yet; why have you come at this time?”

It’s only November; the end of the year hasn’t arrived, and it’s not time for bonuses either, so Little Yu’s visit was quite unexpected.

”I’m here for some business in the city and came by to see if you were home,” Little Yu said with a smile.

”Oh? Is the shop busy?”

”I’ve added more staff, so it’s manageable. I’ve taken over a shop here and am planning to open a new branch.” Little Yu explained, ”Because of this, I wanted to let you know that since I’m investing in the new branch, the bonus for you this year will be a bit less.”

Cheng Su was surprised, ”You’re opening one in this city as well? Where is it?”

”In Wutong Alley on West Street, near the market,” Little Yu said.

As she mentioned it, Cheng Su knew exactly where it was. She thought for a moment; since there was a market nearby, it was a well-developed residential area with a lot of foot traffic, making it overall a good location to open.

Cheng Su looked at her and said, ”You mentioned mid-year that you opened a branch, and now you’re opening another. Sister-in-law, I must say we should look at you with new eyes every three days; I should give you my praise!” As she spoke, she raised her thumb in admiration.
