Not long after the Lantern Festival, Qi Jianguo returned to school and brought along Qi Fengping’s study materials and textbooks for her to continue her studies. He also tutored her for two days before returning to his university in Guangcheng. Of course, he brought a lot of local specialties from his hometown this time, and Cheng Su exclaimed that they couldn’t finish them all.

The baby was almost three months along, and Cheng Su’s morning sickness was gradually improving. She was no longer particularly prone to vomiting unless exposed to certain strong or unusual smells.

With the morning sickness subsiding, the peculiar cravings of pregnant women emerged. Many of the things she wanted to eat were unavailable or impossible to find.

Poor Qi Taiguo, after getting off work from the military, would ride his bicycle all over town just to satisfy Cheng Su’s appetites.

Cheng Su noticed this and felt sweet relief in her heart. Her husband’s attentiveness balanced out the various discomforts she had to endure during pregnancy.

”Seeing Jianguo go back to school reminded me of this issue — what about your remaining two years of college?” Qi Taiguo peeled an orange for Cheng Su while asking.

Cheng Su was slightly startled and replied, ”Just continue attending, of course.”

”Can you?” Qi Taiguo divided the orange in half and handed it over, saying, ”I just did the math. If everything goes smoothly with this pregnancy, you’ll give birth in July. Well, that’s during summer vacation, so there should be no problem. You can finish a full month of postpartum recovery before school starts, but you’ll still need to breastfeed the baby. What are your plans for college? Can you keep taking time off?”

Cheng Su hadn’t expected him to calculate so precisely. She swallowed the orange in her mouth and said, ”There’s still so much time left, and you’re more clear about it than I am!”

Qi Taiguo rolled his eyes at her, ”You’re the busy one, always caught up with either business or school. I have to think about it, don’t I?”

Cheng Su chuckled awkwardly and said, ”After school starts, I’ll ask the academic advisor?” She paused and added, ”Even jobs have maternity leave, but school...”

She really hadn’t thought about this before. In the 21st century, it’s not unheard of for college students to have children while studying. If they can’t attend, they can take a temporary leave of absence and continue their studies after giving birth.

But given her situation, the baby would be born during summer vacation, so she probably wouldn’t need to take a long leave, right?

”Yeah, we need to figure this out properly. Otherwise, it will be troublesome to ask after the baby is born.”

Cheng Su counted on her fingers, ”I’ll be a junior this September, another year next year, and in the year after...hmm, by 1990, I’ll have graduated.”

Qi Taiguo couldn’t help but laugh.

”What are you laughing at?” Cheng Su glared at him, her gaze unfriendly.

”I’m laughing because you might be the first student to have a baby while still in school. The image of you taking a child to class is honestly quite amusing,” Qi Taiguo chuckled.

Cheng Su snorted, thought for a moment, and said, ”Let’s settle something now.”

”What?”

”Given my current situation, the month after birth isn’t an issue since it’s summer vacation. But after school starts, once postpartum recovery is over, if I go to school and can’t look after the baby at times, you can’t blame me!” Cheng Su said, ”Of course, I’ll try to prioritize the child, but I can’t take a leave of absence until the child grows up, right? So I have to continue my studies.”

Qi Taiguo furrowed his brows and said, ”In that case, we’ll need someone to take care of the baby!”

Cheng Su nodded and said, ”At that time, we can see if your mom is willing to help. If not, I’ll ask my mom. If neither can, we’ll hire a nanny!”

She wanted to discuss all these potential difficulties in advance to avoid any conflicts or arguments later on.
