Later in the month, while Ning Ge was present, Cheng Su returned to the jam factory to handle affairs. After the meeting ended, Xiao Pinshan requested a leave of absence from Cheng Su, citing the reason that he was getting married.

Cheng Su was taken aback and instinctively looked at Ying Xiaoya, who was also stunned, staring at Xiao Pinshan, her eyes gradually reddening.

”Are you upset?” Cheng Su handed over a tissue.

Ying Xiaoya took it, sniffed, and said, ”These past few months, I’ve fantasized many times, thinking he should regret it and come to coax me back, but I didn’t expect it was just my wishful thinking. However, strangely, hearing he’s getting married didn’t make me as sad as I imagined.”

She had thought many times that hearing such news might cause her heartache, but when actually hearing it, Ying Xiaoya was sad but not to the extent she imagined; she simply understood that the two could never be together again.

”Actually, you already foresaw this outcome, didn’t you?” Cheng Su said, ”Because you anticipated it, when it really happened, you’re not surprised or especially sad, because from the start, you didn’t hold much hope!”

Ying Xiaoya pressed a tissue to her eye corner, looked up at the tall sycamore tree, and said, ”Maybe. Waiting and waiting, we didn’t get to start over. Instead, what I ended up waiting for is a ’I’m getting married.’ You know? At that moment, I seemed to hear a sigh of relief from my heart.”

Ying Xiaoya looked over, her mouth quivering, just about to burst into tears when Ning Ge let out an ”oh no.”

”Fourth Young Master Cheng is here.”

Cheng Su and Ying Xiaoya looked over to see Cheng Yaozu walking in from the factory gate, holding a large bouquet of sunflowers.
