Just as Cheng Su was wondering what kind of mess her elder sister had gotten into, Zhu Lifen came over with some documents for her to sign.

”President Cheng, did you promise Director Luh from the city supply and marketing cooperative a discount?” Zhu Lifen asked. ”This discount, is it calculated according to the prices we offer other cooperatives?”

Nowadays, taking rebates was common, just like with the Huaiji Supply and Marketing Cooperative, where the base price for goods sold was one yuan. As for how much people actually reported when purchasing the goods, that was their business.

After thinking for a moment, Cheng Su said, ”Give him a discount of ten cents below our wholesale price.”

Zhu Lifen seemed a bit surprised but did not ask further. She had gotten used to obedience.

Cheng Su took the documents from her to browse through, asking how the team was being managed while she signed her name where necessary.

”Chen Zhiquan has been a bit down lately, and I’m not sure if there’s some issue at home. He seems like he really needs money,” Zhu Lifen hesitated before continuing, ”While it’s understandable, bringing such negative emotions to work affects the mood of other colleagues as well. I suggested he take a few days off, but he said it wasn’t necessary.”

Cheng Su handed back the signed documents and said, ”Call Zhiquan over, I’ll talk to him.” She paused and then added, ”Also, go and personally liaise with Director Luh at the city supply and marketing cooperative.”

Zhu Lifen nodded in agreement.

After she left, Ying Xiaoya peeked out from her desk and said, ”For the past two days, I think I saw Zhiquan asking Bi Huahua for money.”

Cheng Su frowned and said, ”I’ll talk to him later, see if he’s having any difficulties.”

Ying Xiaoya shrugged and went back to her own work.

Remembering the issue with her elder sister, Cheng Su picked up the phone and dialed Qi Taiguo’s office number.

Qi Taiguo was also busy. He was slightly startled when he heard her voice, put down his pen, and asked, ”Why are you calling? What’s up?”

Cheng Su was quite independent and not clingy. Usually, any conversation between them happened more at home. As for phone calls, the number of times she called could be counted on one hand.

”Can’t I call if it’s nothing? Or are you flirting with some little vixen!” Cheng Su teased him with a chuckle.

”Nonsense!” Qi Taiguo glared, ”Am I that kind of person?”

Cheng Su chuckled twice, her eyes darting to Chen Zhiquan who had just come in. She pointed to the sofa on the side and, covering the receiver, said, ”Zhiquan, take a seat and have some tea. I’ll talk to you after this call.” She also instructed Mai Yanmei to pour him some tea.

Chen Zhiquan sat down nervously.

Only then did Cheng Su continue speaking into the receiver about the call she got from Qi Fenglian, ”I was wondering if there was some trouble at my elder sister’s home that made her feel wronged. Should we give her a call and ask?”

Upon hearing this, Qi Taiguo’s face darkened and he asked, ”Did she cry?”

”No, she didn’t. I just noticed her tone was somewhat listless.”

”That’s just how elder sister’s temperament is. If she didn’t say anything, she probably doesn’t want us to worry. Don’t overthink it. Later, I’ll give her a call to check in.”

Cheng Su acknowledged with a ”Hmm,” ”I’ve got some things to deal with here, so I’ll hang up now.”

Qi Taiguo, hearing the dial tone, put the receiver down and thought about his elder sister again. He picked up the phone, about to dial when a knock sounded on his door.

”Come in!”

With a waft of perfume, Qi Taiguo looked up and saw Chiang Qing, and without continuing the call, asked, ”Doctor Chiang, what’s up?”

Chiang Qing flashed him a smile and said, ”Commander Qi, now we’re going to fight side by side!”
