Chapter 3479: Chapter 3471: A Kind Person Is Bullied, a Gentle Horse Is Ridden

”Brother Ma, wait a moment, we’re not familiar with the work here.” Zhao Xiangyang said.

”What’s there to be familiar with as a security guard? Just sit here, and if anything happens, contact property management. Can’t handle such a simple task?”

Ma Weiguo staggered away, clearly tipsy.

This left the two of them staring at each other, bewildered.

”I feel like we were hired just so he could slack off.”

Zhao Xiangyang nodded, ”I feel the same way.”

The two of them went to the security room at the south gate of the community.

It wasn’t large, about seven or eight square meters.

With a simple desk, computer, and two chairs inside, it felt a bit cramped.

The two sat on the chairs, watching the surveillance monitors and chatting.

Under normal circumstances, being in the security room just meant monitoring the screens.

If anyone else had an issue, they would come to them, so there was no need to do anything more.

With nothing else to do, the two of them amused themselves with gaming.

In that moment, two men leisurely approached the security room, both also in security uniforms.

Seeing these two, Lin Yi and Zhao Xiangyang both put down their phones.

”You two are the new guys, right?”

The speaker was tall and hefty, weighing at least over two hundred pounds, standing there casting a shadow like a small mountain.

The man’s name was Peng Jianggang and he had been working here for over a year.

Whenever there was heavy lifting to be done, he was the top candidate.

The other was his partner, named Feng Zhiqiang.

”What’s up?” Lin Yi asked.

”The newcomers should be out patrolling, not sitting around here.”

”You’ll have to talk to Brother Ma about that, he told us to stay here,” Lin Yi said.

”Brother Ma is Brother Ma, and you are you. Newcomers should first patrol and get familiar with the work.”

Peng Jianggang walked over and kicked Zhao Xiangyang’s chair.

”Get out there and patrol.”

Zhao Xiangyang didn’t say anything further and stood up, but Lin Yi remained seated.

Zhao Xiangyang turned back and saw that Lin Yi didn’t look too pleased.

He quickly went over and gave him a tug.

”Come on, let’s go patrol. It’ll be boring alone; at least we’ll have some company.”

Lin Yi was reluctant to move, but with Zhao Xiangyang persistently pulling at his clothes, he eventually went along.

Peng Jianggang showed a smirk, and the two of them muttered behind their backs:

”These newbies have no sense of protocol, clearly a couple of cowards.”

”They look pretty young, probably don’t understand the ways of the world,” Feng Zhiqiang added.

”It’s fine if they don’t understand; I’ll teach them later.”

Meanwhile, Lin Yi and Zhao Xiangyang had already left the security room.

”You should curb your temper. We’re new here, there’s no need to stir up conflict.”

”You’re naive if you think that backing down will earn their respect. Step back once, and they’ll walk all over you.”

”The thing is, we still rely on this job to support our families.”

”Don’t put it like that, I don’t really need it,” Lin Yi nonchalantly replied:

”Just remember, if you’re too nice, you get pushed over. It’s okay to be kind, but not too kind, you get what I mean?”

”Lin Bro, you think I don’t know that? But it’s our first day, if we clash with senior staff, we’ll be packing up and leaving soon.”

Lin Yi didn’t respond further.

The situations are indeed different and can’t be discussed the same way.

They wandered around the community, checked thirty-something buildings, and an hour passed easily.

They didn’t find anything requiring attention and started heading back to the security room.

Meanwhile, a system notification sounded in Lin Yi’s mind.

[System Task: Handle a regulatory violation, reward: 100,000 master level driving skills points.]

Hearing the system notification, Lin Yi pondered for a moment.

According to the community’s regulations, many of the residents’ actions were unreasonable.

So, this task wouldn’t be difficult in theory.

But the real challenge was finding a proper way to solve the problem.

For example, many residents liked storing things in the hallways, obviously violating community rules.

In theory, this could affect evacuation during a fire, but the actual risk was low, and it’s often overlooked.

If he intervened, it would surely lead to arguments.

Thinking from a resident’s perspective, if a security guard suddenly demanded such things, it would be upsetting.
