Sleepless Hearts

Her wet lips were so inviting. I wanted to kiss the life out of her, but I controlled myself scrutinizing my surroundings.

”You need to get a hold on her, when she passes by you. Be soft and gentle like you are handling a baby”. She instructed and I simply nodded.

Few dolphins passed around us, but I couldn’t catch them. My hands were shivering in water while I was getting impatient to be out. It was cold and I was worried about my wound on leg swelling up. Even in years it hasn’t healed because I don’t want that. But if it swells up more, then I will be cooped up to bed and I don’t want that.

”Arghh!” I cursed as once again the fish passed my side and I didn’t caught her. Serena shaked her head having her own laugh while I made a face.

Giving me a look, she pulled me behind her in a back hugging position. Gosh!! Already I was at edge and now these wet desires were shit. I so wanted to kiss her every curve and mark her as my own. What was she doing to me?

I breathed in her hairs inhaling her sweet shampoo that tasted strawberry in flavour. One of her favorites.

Taking my hand tightly in her, she caught the dolphin that passed next, shocking me. I was holding a fish. Jesus! Don’t let me die yet. I still need to confess a lot.

”See, how easy it is!” She hugged that fish to us, stroking the back like a mother caresses the child. Even the fish was snuggling in her, and I can’t believe my eyes when Serena moved a little away and the innocent fish snuggled in my warmth too.

I too held her, getting over my fear and when I closed my eyes for a while, I saw my mother smiling at me as if she was happy to see me interact with the beauty of nature.

A tear slid down my eye, and opening my eyes, I saw Serena watching me keenly. Then shocking to my own self, I planted a small kiss on the Dophins cheek or skin whatever they call it.

As if understanding that her work was done now, the Dolphin jumped back into the water again leaving us alone. I felt a huge weight being lifted off my chest.

Giving her a blank look to Serena I swimmed my way out of the water taking a glance at Nathan who was enjoying with others. I wanted to hug him, but I didn’t have the heart to disturb him. Serena followed me and stood beside me, as I wore my discarded vest and shirt.

”Here put this on”. I passed her my jacket looking away from her sexy drenched body. It was so tempting and luring that I had the urge to make out even there but I was firm on my hold to not get intimate unless and until I reveal her everything.

”We can sit on the rock, till he plays”. I stated and nodding my head I sat on the nearby rock. Serena wore the jacket without a word and sat beside me. She linked her arms around mine, resting her head on my shoulder as we sat in absolute silence watching the people have fun. But our eyes were stuck to.our baby who has indirectly, made our life a bliss. If not for him, I wouldn’t have realized the worth of someone’s presence.

Taking a deep breath, I admitted something, which I should have admitted long back. New chapters come out on novelceo . com first.

”I am sorry for all the times I distanced myself from you. I avoided you like plague, while you still tried to put up with me inspite of my ignorance. At times, I have been way too mocking to you about your and Liam’s relationship, but trust me; I didn’t meant to hurt you. It was just that I was afraid that, if the history repeats, I will become another Carolina and I won’t be able to bear that. I am truly sorry, Serena. I know words never compensate for actions, but you can punish me anyway you want and I won’t deny it. So tell me what’s my punishment?”

My voice cracked and I knotted my fingers together. Bile started to rise up in my throat, as I waited for her to say something. But there was only silence in the air, excluding the melodious rhythm of people’s laugh.

”I left you for all that, didn’t I? You say, it was only your fault, but I realize that I was reckless about your insecurities. After that night when you screamed her name, I should have understood that you were afraid but I never did anything to remove your fears. I let you destroy us little by little, by not trying to mend the gap between us; so don’t you think as much as it is your fault it’s mine too because you don’t clap from one hand.” I snapped my head in her direction, to see her tears trickling down her eyes slowly and my chest contracted in pain.
